An old fashioned spanking might be (well, is) effective in the younger years for certain behaviors, but I doubt it would be effective on a grown man (or woman) that is already driving.

When I was in a C.M.V., I got rid of Tail Gaiting Twits with SPEED DECREASE - - sometimes quickly, sometimes slowly, yet effect was the same, bum muffin moved around, as well adding their silent single digit response and/or cutting me off and/or speeding away, as well with the usual negative chatter on the clamour Box.
Flat Land Passing, not ascents or descents, but scents none the less.
I rarely need to apply a reduced speed to get rid of a tail gaiting Personal Vehicle annoyance. -
I had a chance to ask a State cop I know and he told me most of the time when he writes following too close it is in addition to an accident report. He told me about a situation several years ago where he nailed a Marten Driver after a fatality accident on I-95. Following too close along with some other issues. I wonder if that driver ever operated a CMV ever again.
