That’s the part that confuses me. He pays for it but out of that $4k load fuel is $1k then I’d get 40% 3k. So is this a fair deal u think?

He owns the truck. I was using those numbers as an example. He pays the fuel but that fuel comes out of what I get. I suck at explaining. Let’s say $1k load and fuel is $200 I would get 40% of 800. People say I’m getting screwed . Should get 60%. I just want to make sure I’m not getting screwed

Over half of the people you ask will say you’re getting screwed. Probably more. Just the way it is. There’s talk about making the big bucks, then there’s reality. Don’t listen to others, or myself. Look around, see for yourself. Remember every job will paint a nice picture. Don’t believe them either. Talk to some of their Drivers, before making a decision. The Trucking world is full of BS. Too many Companies making their profits at the Drivers expense. If your Boss is being straight and honest with you, that’s worth a lot. I’ve lost more than one good opportunity because I didn’t trust the person. It really doesn’t matter what the Boss makes, as long as you’re making money. Your pay set up is such that encourages you to find the better paying loads, and burn less fuel. Sounds like it’s exactly what you wanted. Percentages mean nothing, same as per mile pay. Total pay for the week vs. the amount of aggravation it took is all that matters.

I appreciate you. Ty. I’m taking a baby step towards my end goal of running my own authority. Quit my company job and taking a chance in a rough market. First week everyone’s got me convinced I screwed up. Scared the crap out of me. I needed to hear that. I’m freaking out that I made a mistake

Don't worry or listen to what other people think.
What is your pay per mile? Or pay per hour?

Have more confidence in yourself first off. Enough with the “I’m not smart” stuff. I hate percentage deals myself but you getting 60% after fuel is not feasible at all. Are you making good money? That’s all that matters.

@Ridgeline will be along to give his opinion as he does percentage deals. Maybe he can help.

So I get 40% of the gross AFTER fuel comes out. I book and bid on my own loads . Use a fuel network called TCS
