What is going on in these areas? I have made a week long trip to this area about every other month or so for the last 9 years so I am familiar with the area but it seems like something popped in the past month or two. It has always been crazy but not like this. There is a huge lot on the north side of I-20 in town that has hundreds of vehicles. Are people parking there and taking busses to work somewhere or something?

Every man camp is booked up for the remainder of the year. We have called around to several and they don't have any availabilities. What is weird is the normal stops that are crowded like the gas stations and restaurants don't seem that busy.

I'm just guessing off the top of my head, but I reckon that upstream is gearing up to meet the increased export demand from Europe resulting from the Russia / Ukraine conflict, combined with the prospect of a more hydrocarbon-friendly Congress being sworn in come January.

Right now that is the ‘hot’ area, especially just across the border into NM, trying to complete leases on Federal land that were signed during the Trump years.

What is the pay like? Is there housing down there?
I would love to put in a few months here and there in the oilfield since I am semi retired.
I dont really want to work year round but love to work hard long hours when I do work

Pay is good,$2k a week or more.A lot of workers live in the camps. Its not all perfect but money's good.
Everyone has signs out hiring drivers.
I think American Cement is offering $30 an hour, what a co worker said.
I'm semi retired also,a good mix of older and younger workers here.
