My worst ever memory of weather is losing my lights (all of them!) in a white out....at the top of a hill on I-80.

I was one of the only I had seen in a minute...but I knew people were coming behind me! With zero visibility and zero lane awareness! It was going to be bad!

I jumped out....freaked out for a second.....jumped back in....held breaker button in with one finger and got the heck to the next exit!

    I could smell wiring! LOL.

I now avoid 80 in bad weather and I carry a super bright BIG flashlight with a red cap on it! At least I can warn drivers if it were to ever happen again.

Yeah but this day and age, the weather man don't miss very often. The saw this brewing up from last Monday. People are in this mindframe of don't trust mainstream media, but in reality they should be just he discerning of what news to pay attention to. The weather? You better take precautions. They may close school and not a snowflake falls but it's better to be safe than sorry so I ain't mad at em.

Must be nice getting snow days. K-12 never once were schools closed due to weather when growing up. Some days I was walking half a kilometer to the bus stop in the tracks of dad's truck because the snow was 10 inches deep on the road lol.

this ain't about big boy pants this is about not getting stuck in snow drifts or ran off the road. Again I've done plenty of snow driving but there's just times where common sense needs to prevail and just park it

So predictable that Lockport (where my brother lives) was predicted to get 60" of snow and he got 6". But I guess it was accurate is it was "up tp" 60" of snow. 6" is up to......

Of course 30 miles away they did get 60", but that just shows how snow storms aren't like other storms.

Better to be safe than sorry. I'll take the error of caution. I was just on I-80 in PA Tuesday that during the icing snow conditions and it's not worth to me nor is what's in the tank that important.
When you lose traction on ice going down a mountain with other vehicles on roadway a recipe for disaster.
I'll leave the icy big road to the big boys and still making my living. Be safe no truck skating allowed.

I wonder if chains will ever be required in the East?

I have never felt the need personally.

Agreed. Especially i81 from Hazleton and north. Curves get iced up sometimes catch my trailer trying to go it’s own way.
