Just wanted to reach out in my first post and say thank you to everyone here that has shared so much information.

I haven’t had to post yet as every search has resulted in and answer to my question.

So I just wanted to take a moment to say thanks. Not to get into particulars of my situation, but it’ll be a while before I’ll be able to answers others questions, though I could give a few what not to do examples.

    Thanks again

Those "what not to do" examples is how many of us learned enough to give you the hints that we can share with you.
I was told years ago that any day that you didn't learn something or teach somebody something is a wasted day.
Have fun and keep on truckin'

    Opus and Isafarmboy Thank this.

That’s for using the search button.

i guess you’ve already seen how many times the same question gets asked , when using the search button would deliver up tons of answers.

One forum I was on , the members go so tired of that , that the standard reply to a question that the search box would easily answer was :
    SEARCH , NOOB !

there is tons of good Info on here
And yea, since Al Gore had not yet invented the internet , alot of us old geezers learned what not to do the old fashioned way .

If , after reading all the stuff , you still wanna drive a truck , well , this is the best place to learn everything that can be learned by reading .

Concorde, beastr123 and Opus Thank this.

It can be fun too. And it's a community. Feel free to jump in anywhere you like. You might be able to teach us something too. Or at least share a good joke.
    Welcome to TTR

Well Opus, would contributions like how to get Lowes employees to unload by “accidentally” opening those doors clearly marked Emergency Exit Only! Alarm Will Sound! to get a manager to come running, would that be a good place to start?

Or the irate warehouse manager claiming that an appointment is needed, when the rate con says FCFS, and will only unload if I “call my people and tell them never send a truck without an appointment again”. So I pretend to call TQL and chew them a new one in front of the warehouse staff to get unloaded.

Or the shipper who claims I need a washout whose brother-in-law conveniently has a gravel corner lot next door, with a powerwasher and leaf blower, and “knows what we expect” for an $80 fee of course.

How about listening to the grizzled ole driver whose been doing driving since he came home from Vietnam, and is lament on how he’s embarrassed and disgusted by what he see’s in new drivers, but then offer to take his trash to the dumpster and see his face light up and he calls you “Brutha” and wishes you a happy Thanksgiving.

Everyday there’s something I could make mention of, but my assumption is you’ve all been there before. I’ll start sharing, at least in part because nobody back home has any idea what it’s like out here.

####. I love a good rant. Get it off your chest. You could also help some of us new boots in the process by doing so.
