Why is KLLM offering much higher CPM than other starters?

I’m a new CDL A holder and I’ve applied to a bunch of companies that accept new graduates for OTR positions. Most of the CPMs offered were in the 0.41-0.45 range, but KLLM recruiter told me that the starting CPM for new hire (after completing orientation) is 0.60. Why is there such a big discrepancy? It feels almost too good to be true.

It is reefer and I suspect they offer the higher CPM to compensate for overall lower miles.

What is their accessory pay like? Accessory/bonus pay can be another 10-15 cpm or so. And miles per day/week - who cares if you're getting $1 a mile if you only get 800 miles a week.

Does the .60 cpm include accessorial pays or in addition to accessorial pays?

Perhaps if you go through their school, it's a bigger return? Just a thought. Don't get too caught up on that cpm. As mentioned before, if you ain't running it means nothing. You need to figure out how much they can run you each week. I don't see why a company as large as KLLM couldn't run you with good miles.

All I can find on KLLM websites is new cdl school grads are paid .45 cpm.
That's about average pay for starters. KLLM is a pretty good outfit though.

Did the recruiter say if the .60 was base pay or did they use the phrase "up to .60..."?

    Bean Jr. Thanks this.

‘Pay’ per mile/hour is only one part of the equation.
What is in ‘the details’ can be a deal maker or deal breaker.
