Espar Fumes Advice and Operation Help

You mean you're smelling fumes in the cab? Diesel exhaust or otherwise? Not that it matters, if you are you have a leak which could end your life. You shouldn't smell anything in the cab with an Espar or any diesel heater running.

 

I've had lots of diesel heaters for years (Planar/Espar/Webasto/Chinese) and they are all pretty much the same. I'm familiar with the startup and shutdown cycles. You still shouldn't be smelling more than a very faint diesel smell for a second at startup and nothing in shutdown. If you are super sensitive to this I'm not sure how you can survive around diesel trucks at all. This isn't a criticism, I'm serious. Diesel trucks smell like diesel, even clean new ones.

 

Also, I'm not sure what you mean here because you don't have any choice but to wait for the cool down to complete. You can't stop it from doing this.

 

Some people like me have no problem with diesel fumes, but car exhaust makes me nauseous after the first smell. Very sensitive to it too- can smell car exhaust a mile away.

As far as the Espar, if the wind is blowing strong against the truck, some fumes will get inside on startup. No big deal, just open the window a minute. Also, make sure it's shut off when fueling.
