    Looks like a Volvo FH series cabover,but it also be a Mercedes Benz Actros,a Scania or even a Hyundai Xcient. Euro cabovers more or less look alike.

    They are testing cabovers with alternative power sources in la. Kenworth developed a lot of their similar trucks in the la area hauling containers.

    That makes sense. They must have alternative-fueled stuff, elsewhere in the world, and bringing a proven platform here for testing is probably easiest. Thanks!

    It's the Nikola Tre BEV. They partnered with IVECO and use the S-Way model as a base for their electric trucks.

    I would have thought they would have stacked the batteries right behind the cab for a shorter WB. Lots of air between the cab and front of the trailer.

    In Europe, they run really deep kingpin setbacks, so that gap would typically be filled with a trailer nose.

    I know Gordon used to run long kingpin setback on their west coast fleet. The OP's picture of the truck in CA shows the vast gap between cab and trailer nose.
