Went to replace the valve and the brand new one leaked. So I cleaned and lubed the old Kysor one internally and it’s working. Replaced the dash switch too as the old one looked horrible on the backside.

The crack in my front cover is spewing oil. Going through 1 gallon every 1,000 miles. Just got off the phone with Detroit. Getting a quote for an inframe. Talked to them last month. I was blown away by the price. Way cheaper than I ever would have imagined.

I was going to wait till this played out in court but the leak is just too bad. Plus I am having trouble finding a lawyer ( one that handles this type of case and also one that will call back) Also have developed a inconsistent shudder. Plus I may be doing some oilfield work locally and I don’t want to miss that income. So I will just pay now and be good to go.

What did they quote you? My local dealer has a factory reman sitting on the floor for 29. I thought that was a decent price. I would think an inframe is about 15

What did I miss? Getting another rebuild? An inframe? Why? Whatever’s causing it to run rough probably doesn’t have anything to do with the rebuild parts. First I heard of the front cover. The original shop should fix that. I have too much to say about this whole ordeal. Something doesn’t add up. Another inframe may not solve the problem. Be a waste of money.

The front cover is cracked. That was found when I took it to another shop to have it diagnosed. That is the source of the oil leak that has gotten worse over time. Leaking 1 gallon every 1000 miles.

That bad vibration is still present. And now an inconsistent shudder has developed. I was told without out being able to pinpoint where the issue is and since this whole engine is questionable, the right thing to do is tear it down and measure everything to make sure it’s within spec. Also to reseal everything. There are more smaller leaks but they get covered up the the big leak.

Please give any advice or comments. I’m open to anything.

BTW. I am not letting the original guy touch anything, even for warranty. I can’t afford to be down for weeks like the first time he screwed me.

He is also taking me to court saying I owe him $3600. I will explain this shortly

Final bill was almost $10,000 higher than quote. We had a list on side of quote that was going to be additional cost. Turns out one thing he couldn’t do. One thing he didn’t do. He also tried to use the excuse parts price increase.

I gave deposit March 3. All parts were available and ordered. No shortage at the time. He admitted to me they ordered the wrong parts 2-3 times as they were using my original engine block serial number instead of the block he had and was building for me. I was increasing HP.

He never said anything about price increases. If he was trying to make up for his screw ups, thats not my problem. I have never had a shop for a semi or personal vehicle NOT call and authorize additional cost and parts before doing work. I didn’t give him an open ended check.

A month after I dropped off the truck I had to drive to a junkyard in Ohio to get the correct rocker arms. Mind you this was on 7/22. He had been building engine since March.

I had jakes added to new engine. Original engine didn’t have them. He was unable to give me functioning jake brakes. So now I incurred additional costs having another shop do this.

    In summary.

-He tried to charge for rebuilt starter. Mine was only a month old. I wasn’t paying.

-He couldn’t wire in Jake brakes.

-He had truck for 7 weeks to swap an engine that should have been built before he had me come in. Approximately 4 months he had to build the engine.

-Engine had vibration from day 1. He can’t find it. I incurred additional costs having this diagnosed at other shops.

    - Additional cost of adding gallon of oil every 1000 miles.

    - AND THE BIGGEST ONE. MY LOST REVENUE FOR 7 WEEKS.

This is a complete crap show.

Hasn’t got back to me yet.

I got to thinking what I said earlier about it being cheap when I spoke to them last month. I may be mistaken on what numbers we were discussing so I will have to wait for the new quote which hopefully I receive today.

This is what idling for 3 hours leaves behind.
