My question is: are you making the same money driving less miles doing OD?

I would not do OD loads on a pay per mile basis either. That seems like a ripoff. Percentage or salary is the only way to go in my opinion . But how many companies offer that ?

No, but the wife is warming to the idea of me just leaving the trucking world and work a regular job or two.

I just checked with the Op's manager. He said the transition to Wylie has already begun, and as of Jan 1, management reports to Wylie... doesn't sound much like a partnership to me...that is EXACTLY how it was at Moore...then one day POOF, most of the Moore office employees were excused and Wylie took over.

521 miles today, 65 or so miles from delivery.
Should they keep reporting to RMG like the started to do on June first? Or should we go back to reporting to Dan Wirkkala, the ceo who retired in June? Maybe Matt Berry (RIP) who started the company and passed away in the early 80’s?

Sure looks like two company’s already listed under the EW Wiley banner. Maybe they just don’t want to put their stickers on the god awful ugly Big Freight trucks, I mean really, who could blame them.

I have some speculation why our partnership with RMG didn’t work out. They were supper gun hoe about getting our teams secret clearance and our solos getting hazmat. These were necessary requirements to haul their overflow DOD freight. Mostly dryvan and some special curtain side trailers. Then they found out that even if they were out parent company, we could only haul that freight if we were Tristate Motor Transit (one of the RMG companies). They couldn’t “broker” the loads to us. At that point we don’t have much in common. They are 3 dryvan companies and we use dryvans mainly for storage.

We are a much better fit with Wiley. Open deck working niche markets (spd with avation and finished goods, and wiley with equipment mostly and some building materials), with smaller glass divisions within our company.

Why the #### should we have to report to any other sister company....report to say ummmmmm - DASEKE. They're the owner.... that's who these sister companies have to report to...we are our own company, why do they have to pair us off with anybody. I should have just retired when I left Creaffer and not got my hopes up for being able to find a decent company that would stay a decent company for more than a few months and then have to change...I should have known better than ever trust any company owned by Daseke, they are a total joke, the greedy ########.

We report to our parent company. That was RMG and now it’s Wiley. Very simple.

Lets recap what has happened since the announcement:
They announced we are getting 25m worth of new equipment (trucks and mostly trailers)
Big increases in OD pay (this won’t effect a lot of the fleet but it’s an easy $10k raise for me )

That’s literally it, only a truck driver could spin this into a sky is falling situation.

Unrelated but this was also covered In the last forum that was a “waste of 20 min of my life”. SPD raised $10,500 for toys for tots. That’s $7000 more then ever before, $5000 came directly from SPD.

Or how about the three trucks we donated for Wreaths Across America?

It must be exhausting being this negative. On Friday you were so “rah rah,
Go team” when loading saying “this is just like Moore, everyone helping everyone”.To this point nothing has changed for the negative. Who knows it may in the future, but that hasn’t happened yet.

Some say doing od is working smarter not harder. That used to be the case for me, I was perfectly content running 95k miles a year and grossing around $90k. Did that for 3 or 4 years. Last year I ran 130,279 miles, that was the highest safe solo mileage and earned me driver of the year. This year im on pace to do 141,649 miles, over half of that is loaded OD miles.

This time of the year it’s a bit slower paced doing OD work but it doesn’t slow me down to much. You just have to run efficiently. I’ll be at 6400 miles for the month when I deliver tomorrow.

I prefer to work harder, and smarter.
