12.7 Series 60- Issues after rebuild

    I was more curious for myself and anybody following, that sounds like a great price if it's from a great shop. Ip here in the frozen north, that's high 20's all day, then some.

    Truck has been dropped at Detroit shop. Heavy rain and rush hour was a fun combination in a bobtail. Hopefully they get me fixed up.

    It’s kind of scary. All the employees are pleasant.

    I need to keep in mind I may have some tough decisions to make if they find internal issues that require a tear down.

    What do you guys use for shocks? I know it’s differing opinions. There have been a few threads over the years. General consensus is Monroe sucks if I recall.

    I only buy original from my local dealer, made by Sachs

    Freightliner here sells Sachs. They claim they last twice as long. I’m sure they’re better than Monroe’s. They’re also twice the price. I just bought 4 Monroe’s for the rear, they’re black, not yellow. The yellow ones are gas charged. Good for Trucks that have a problem with nose bounce. But once they blow, they’re done. Like having no shock at all. Every time I’ve used them, at least one or two are completely shot when I change them. The black ones at least stay decent till they leak. Both barely last 1 yr. or 100k.

    Shock absorbers are just something you need to get used to writing off on your taxes.

    It's just one of those things you have to often replace Maybe every year whatever.

    If I see one on the front axle of my truck that leaks I replace both of them. The the ones on the back of the truck I'll replace them individually but it's just almost something that I keep in stock anymore.

    All you have to do is constantly crawl around your truck and look and you'll find them leaking and you just replace them and keep going that's all.

    If someone were to tell me of a shock that would Last 5 Years but it was expensive yeah maybe I would consider it but this shock absorber technology apparently no one has mastered it to the degree they can make a product that lasts.

    So just replace them when you need to and forget it.

    Is my opinion.

    FINALLY got a lawyer to call back. Meeting him on Monday. He was interested in the quote and final bill discrepancies. He asked if I wanted to email everything to him. I declined. Face to face meetings are better. Plus I can use a whiteboard in case this is confusing. I want to make sure I get my point across.

    Might email him the documents so he can study them before you get there. Might save a little bit of time but hey what do I know. Ha Ha Hopefully you have better luck then I have with lawyers on trucking issues. So far I have been very underwhelmed with how professional they have been.
