I would also add Joey try to make sure he gives you some kind of a ballpark of what it's going to cost you and what he thinks he can do for you.

If there's very little he can do about it and he's going to charge you a lot of money then it's better to just move on or find another way to deal with it or another lawyer.

I would also suggest that you have all of your information in chronological order, any quotes invoices emails conversations whatever.

I would also try to gather up any information that you can get on standard shop rates, estimates, and time frames for completion for that type of engine etc.

I would ask him if there's any way you can get money for down time or any of that. You never know you gotta ask.

Also that engine should be under warranty. Not sure what all is included with that but you could ask him about that too. And now you have the truck someplace else is there any way that you can send that bill to the other guy or make him pay for that or part of it?

I'm sure this is all stuff you've already thought of Joey but I'm just trying to think of anything that might be of help.

I'm glad for you though because there are some guys that this happens to and that's it they don't have the money to continue.

So I'm glad you're able to keep rolling.

Keep us updated. What did the dealer say?

I called today and they were still tearing it down. So no update as of yet. We were talking when I dropped it off. The crack was diagnosed by a different shop. So the current shop is just seeing the truck for the first time. He said best case scenario is it could be simple as an O ring. Funny thing is that already happened at the rebuild shop and they had to rip the front off and fix it as it was puking oil. Maybe they damaged another one putting it back together? I dunno. This leak isn’t as bad as the first but still bad enough.

Either way the case is there if it needs replaced. I told them not to rush as I want this gone over slowly and throughly. Not only for longevity but also for evidence if necessary. The extra cost does suck but it won’t kill me and hopefully I can recover that in the suit. Either way keep marching forward.

I actually miss the stupid truck. Ridiculous I know LOL.

They probably won’t. It was hard enough to find one to take the case and even harder to get the call back. I don’t have a lot of faith in them. they are white collar and don’t understand any of this other than the business end of the contract or quote.

Probably will blow his mind when I tell him how much oil these things take. Way more than whatever over priced lawyer car he drives :biggrin_2559:

There’s always small claims court. No idea what the maximum amount of claim is these days. Id guess maybe as much as $5000 max. in most States. Just a guess. Either way with or without a Lawyer, whoever loses, pays the Legal costs for the winner. Small claims cases are inexpensive to file. In Michigan anything over 10% added above a repair estimate needs approval by the customer. Also, customers have a right to get old parts back. They typically ask if you want them. Maybe PA has similar Laws. There’s always Laws and then reality. The Lawyer will at least give you an idea of what’s realistic. I can’t wait to find out what’s causing the vibration. Got my motor mounts tightened. No more occasion stalling on take offs Lol. Thought I had a power or torque issue. Also figured out I’m running the wrong filters. Instead of a 50 micron primary and a 5 micro secondary, I’ve been using a 10 micron and a 20 micron. Might be why it’s blowing the white smoke sometimes. May be low on power, and using so much fuel. Ironically, I found an old thread, from 2013. Someone suggests using the exact filters I’m using. I’ve verified the secondary with a Dealer that sold me the wrong filter base when mine broke. They claimed it was wrong before, and since then, I’ve been using the 20 micron, instead of the 5 micron. They were wrong. The other combo is a 30 and 20, I think. Different set ups, I guess for different injectors. Mine have the 9 hole finer spray tips. Maybe why they use the 5 micron for a secondary. Anyways, I’m hoping it will pump fuel better to the secondary, primary being a 50 micron, to pump enough pressure to push fuel through the 5 micron secondary. That’s my theory. Now I need 2 new bases for the proper filters, or go back to the plastic bowl type separator as a primary that the Truck had when I bought it. Maybe your sputtering is a cracked filter base, or wrong filter combo. One thread I found mentions primary and secondary’s getting mixed up as something often seen. Claims it causes low power, high fuel usage. I’ll know the truth soon enough, once I get the proper filters on.

Very interesting. I’m going to call today and remind them to write down what parts are in the engine in case I never get them from the rebuilder……not that I would fully trust those anyhow. I really hope he didn’t mix parts. They kept using the old engine serial number and ordering wrong parts. Hopefully they didn’t get frustrated and just grab something they had laying around.

Shop called today. No carnage found so far. Front cover is cracked in TWO places. Lovely. Valve cover is also cracked in multiple places. And there was an old style screw used, I forget what the heck he said, but the always break. An upgraded version was and is available. I’ll update when he calls back. I was half naked and head covered in shaving cream when he called. He didn’t have my full attention LOL.

I’m sitting at a park and ride watching interstate traffic. Guess I miss working this much or I am just a sick person.

As much as I complain about everything, I do enjoy trucks and trucking still. I even really like truck stops. I don’t like the clientele, prices or piss poor service, but I enjoy the usefulness of them. I just wish all the above was fixed so it would be an enjoyable experience for every trucker…… not the lyrics, just the title lol.
