My point is, there will be civil cases, regardless. NTSB has nothing to do with that. The families are going to be looking to get rich, to ease their pain.![]()

I am going out on a limb, but I will almost guarantee you that the final result will be against the bus driver. Not because I live here in Virginia, but you will not find another state DOT that is as "lax" as Va. I would rather deal with a Va. DOT Trooper than any other state I know.
I am waiting to hear the results of the drug test they gave the bus driver after the accident.ducnut Thanks this. -

Update:
NTSB: Truck hit rear of party bus in fatal crash in Virginia
It seems that the truck driver is going to be charged in this tragic accident. Although there is evidence that the bus was only traveling 40 mph with no tail lights. Also, the article states something about modifications had been done to the bus, I wonder what??? But as previously stated, I was wrong about the bus driver being charged. It looks like they are determined to charge the truck driver. -
We’ll see. A modified vehicle, carrying passengers, traveling 40mph on an interstate, may not get away free.
One CANNOT modify a passenger-carrying vehicle beyond its original approved configuration, without liability. Not able to achieve minimum interstate speed, as posted. No operational taillights is yet another violation. The bus driver and operator are not without fault, here.mjd4277 Thanks this. -

The article states that the bus driver admitted that he couldn’t get the bus above 40 mph,WTH was he doing getting on an interstate highway where traffic is moving at 65-70 mph?!?!
And with defective equipment? -
mjd4277 Thanks this.
