What about Kurtze Food Service? I see those drivers running pups around at night all over western PA. Are they in your area?

JoeyJunk and Lumper Humper Thank this.

Kurtze is out of Erie I believe.

I’ve been out of the loop for a bit, torched two years at UPS package car only to find there was no way I was getting to feeders without being hired into a feeder slot off the street.

Now at a grocery chain, which is decent work although we both load and unload our trucks… pays well, easy money, but the commute sucks and attention to detail on payroll is subpar and requires vigilance and assertive corrections at times. Equipment is not great either and inward facing cameras aren’t something I think I’m going to tolerate for long.

Oh well. We shall see how the landscape appears after my 12 month mark in April.

That really sucks you couldn’t get in to Feeders from Package Car. The hub I worked at they were required to let a certain number come to Feeders for every street hire. I guess they needed you so bad in package they didn’t want to let you go.

    Mike2633 and JPenn Thank this.

LOL not so much. I was part time, and they had a standing practice that in order to bid to feeders you had to be fulltime. The other part timers ahead of me in seniority had been there 5-8 years and were still not fulltime. Monkey games, didn’t have time for that. If they start hiring off the street again I’ll apply, perhaps.

Where I am at present, I am making what a top rate package car driver makes anyway, on average per day. So all I really lost was my slot for a union pension, healthcare and enough drama and nonsense to make me need the healthcare.

It ended up not working out. They were working me 80 to almost 100 hours a week in a daycab. This included time we had to do maintenance on our own trucks. I was simply not qualified to do something as extensive as redoing the wiring, replacing air chambers, or changing the oil.

I’m working out bound since we’re a small terminal, and out bound supervisor need some help. I swear this dude is a character…

he’s worries about line haul cut times, and the last city driver has some freight we need to top off a set. The city driver takes his lunch break @ like 730, so he’s biting his nails because his bonus aligns with cut times, starts taking a picture of where the truck is parked on satellite to show the TM.

I look at the geo-fencing and he’s parked at a Lowe’s on a main street towards the terminal, and he’s freaking out “he has no business there. I’m like… “dude he’s prolly parked on the outer part of the Lowe’s parking lot probably walking to chipotle. I do that too”.

lmao dude finally gets a hold of the driver and he’s @ chipotle.
