Dude I literally can't stand him. He's so slow and lazy. Gate time 2000 he leaves around 2030. Shows up all confused looking like he doesn't know what's going on. I've never had a conversation with him I can't stand him. I'm taking a pay cut because of the seniority crap but I'm happy to be away from that doofus. I hate meet drivers that wanna make these runs into 10+ hour days. I can easily run this run without a break in a 65mph truck. (496 miles)

Some P and D folks filling in on runs. They only have numbers for straight linehaul people.

Point taken, but that happens in non-union environments as well. I call it the "charismatic nephew" dilemma. Nepotism and croneyism suck at every job.

I've been on a meet run for some months now. My meet driver and I have exchanged phone numbers. Any delays, we text. Any preferred arrival time (he's late getting off the dock, he has an early doctor's appointment, whatever), I get there when he wants me there.

I'm the longer half of the meet, so I'll do what I need to do on the way back to arrive at my home terminal at my preferred time.

You have to be social, and you have to do right by guys out there. I'll make my money or my short night on MY time. I don't need to screw up his night to do that.

Listen bro... I've been doing this meet thing for a while. I'm never late unless it's out of my control. I'm all about being on time. I'm at the terminal 2 hours before the gate EVERY DAY like clockwork. When I did another run at 0100, I was there at 2300 every day. 0000 cut time? 2200 I'm in the office. 0600 cut? 0330 every morning. Being early is just my thing and it works for me. This guy doesn't share the same sentiment.

I met him randomly before he ever became my meet guy. 1800 cut on a Sunday. I call Central at 1530, load ready, cool let's roll. I'm out the house 1600, at the terminal at 1630, and by 1700 I'm on the express way. I contact this guy, he at the terminal at 1845. I say, "did you know the cut time was 1800?" He says, "Yeah, but it's Sunday. Where are you?" I'm looking at the phone like wtf. To make matters worse, when he did get rolling, he called me. It's like 1930 and he's rolling with hazmat AND NO PAPERWORK.

I bypassed the meet entirely and went to the nearest terminal, broke the set, put everything away, call Central, get a new set, hook, AND MAKE IT BACK TO THE TRUCK STOP 1.5 HOURS BEFORE HE SHOWS UP. He sucks...

Yes it's a rant... But man this guy is terrible. If this was old Dominion he would've been gone.

@KaoMinerva I think we're all on the same page here. We feel your pain. It gets down to a basic sense of respect for other people. We take stuff like "don't waste other people's time" for granted but some people just aren't very high functioning. Plenty of em in trucking. But it sounds like kind of a moot point now that you're on something else. Maybe if it comes up again you can float it by this here board and we'll try to help.

Oh believe me, I know you're holding it down. I was talking about HIM not doing what he's supposed to do.

You sure said a mouthful there and now that I think about it, I’m amazed how many people ignore that simple mantra.
