1 Killed In Virginia Truck Crash After Driver Parked And Sleeping On The Shoulder

In 25 years on the road i have only slept on exit ramps or wide spot in road a fews times when i start to nod

 

I can honestly say, 60 years out here and I have NEVER parked on the shoulder to sleep. I am not that BRAVE! This morning @118 on 1-81, I counted over 20 trucks on the shoulder

 

Is parking on the shoulder like that legal in Virginia?

 

WHERE Is It Legal in the U.S.A. Including Hawai'i and Alaska UNLESS BROKEN DOWN??

 

10-2, 10-4 as to Exit Ramps, and I'll add Entrance Ramps without being En(a)trance.

 

Trucks have parked on Shoulders and been hit by 4, 6, 18+ wheeled Vehicles.

Va. most probably will write you a ticket for "Disobeying Highway Signs", which carries a hefty fine and 3 points.

 

There is no excuse for parking on the shoulder. But there is a huge shortage of safe available parking space in the tidewater area.
