Last week I talked to a guy that was asking questions about my truck because it was similar to his. I asked him if he had Drum or Disk? He didn't know! -

The Nyack brake check area as I recall is at the end of one of the flatter sections, and acts as a warning that "You're not done with the steeper stuff yet". I used to use it as a place to stretch my legs and check things out before diving into the lowlands. -

I say “where applicable” because some of our equipment is going through a “transitional period”. Our tractors are switching over from drum brakes to disc brakes-the last tractor I had had disc brakes on the steers but drums on the drives. My current tractor has disc brakes all around. Our trailer fleet is transitioning as well-switching from drum/S-cam setup to disc brake/calipers. -
I will probably never get the opporunity now, but I would have liked to try out disk brakes.D.Tibbitt and Big Road Skateboard Thank this. -

And I don't mean to scoff at the importance of safety. It's just the foolishness that seriously most drivers dont care.
Coming down Dead Mans Pass, I can roll 28-30 with 48k and never touch my brakes, yet all I smell all the way to Pendleton is hot brakes from the idiots who don't care. -
