Yikes, that's a big deal, I thought HP was one of Abilene's major customers, how would they lose that, undercut in price?

Hometime is drawing to a close. Suppose to leave tomorrow. I’m thinking this might turn into a comedy hour. My DM is off tomorrow and Friday. At this place, when your DM is out, you have a better chance of hitting the lottery than getting help from anyone else. So, I will make one phone call in the morning, and that’s it. I really have no problem waiting for them to call me. Maybe with this new operations procedure, they’ll forget about me until next Monday. Meanwhile, this is how I spent my morning with this maniac, then it was pool time with the same maniac.

Unloaded at office depot in IL Tuesday then bounced to MI to reload to Sandston. Would have dropped yesterday if DC and northern VA wasn’t backed up so bad for dumb reasons. Had to park in the LadySmith rest area. Prefer to start 0300 but have to wait til 0900 at least to start my clock cuz BH load out of Petersburg don’t pick up til 1400 and due 0200 tomorrow so gotta drive straight through. Hopefully be ready early. Thankfully be bobtail out so should find a spot somewhere being the spots will probably be full outside the BH gate.

So far so good. Got my load assignment. Was called by a fill in DM to ask me if I could deliver tomorrow afternoon by 1500 in Virginia Beach. Told him no, I actually probably could, by I really don’t want to work that hard just coming out of the house. So I’ll load In Medley Florida, which I’ve loaded at before years ago, and drop it in the yard about 1700 tomorrow. Right now having breakfast with this maniac of ours.
One thing I was concerned about with this lack of freight, I was due my yearly longevity raise on the first of April. I was pretty sure it was going to be put on hold as per driver gossip, but alas, it was in my pay as scheduled. The only reason I didn’t get it on the 1st of April was because I was getting paid as a trainer for the month of April. My first trip with the new raise went into effect with my load home last week. And if anyone is wondering, I will just say, with me, it’s all about money for me. If I’m entitled to it, I want it.Last edited: May 4, 2023

Came down with a righteous case of the Tennessee Quick-step last night.
Being sick on the road is no fun, but if all it is is snifffles and aches and coughing, I can deal.
This stuff where you need to be in close proximity to a functioning toilet, on the other hand, is misery incorporated. Feeling mildly achy and mildly nauseous, just enough for my immune system to let me know it's doing stuff. I am just now eating the first food I've had since last night around this time. Didn't even drink any coffee today aside from a couple of sips. And I drink a lot of coffee, so that's quite the sacrifice.
Fortunately, HQ put me on a load with 11 total hours of drive time from previous receiver to shipper to receiver, and 72 hours to get there. So I have been taking advantage of the slack time with lots of naps and lots of trips to the bathroom. Currently at that little 7-11 with truck parking in Thurmont, MD. Probably gonna sleep with my pants and boots on tonight, just in case.JoeyJunk, Lonesome, jarhead0311 and 4 others Thank this. -
