Hate operating out of my preferred schedule of 0300-1500. Got my Groveport dropped at 2300, dropped trailer and took off totally forgetting to turn in the paperwork to get signed and had to turn around and go back. Had to come all the way to Circleville Loves to find a spot. Had my choice of 4 different loads all 500 miles or less and deliver Monday. Picked the Columbia,Sc BH cuz it is one of the easy ones to back into. I was almost due for a 34 anyway so it kind of works out.

IMG_3225.jpeg Not how I wanted to start my day. Waiting on road service to fix my flat tire at the northbound scales on 95 in Georgia.

I’ve had 4 complete, destructive blowouts in the last 3 1/2 weeks. 2 of them in the same week (1 on a Tuesday and again on Thursday). All on different trailers. All recaps. Who uses recaps when you consistently haul 44k+? First one took almost 8 hours to get repaired. Thankfully, I was close to stopping anyway and since I couldn’t go until it was fixed-ripped the mud flap off and pushed the bracket up and forward-it was a wash. The next 3 took 6 hours (at a Loves), 5 hours (at a Loves) and 3 1/2 hours (some company out of Florence-they were the bomb) respectively. The down time I’ve had this past month, along with the reduced freight rates (I am paid %), has had me seriously rethinking my decision to stay trucking! I think we’ve all fallen and bumped our heads! LOL

3 hours. From initial phone call to the Loves service truck that just left. Not too bad.

You tell me. Though I have a good idea, it’s like everything else that goes on here. I was still home when I got assigned this load. The 3 stops are some of our best LTL freight that I’ve pulled the last 10 years. I said when all this news broke that I couldn’t imagine them giving up this type of freight. First stop is convention freight, second stop is coolers and the last stop is Goodyear retreading machines that are manufactured in Italy, shipped to Colonial Heights for final assembly, then shipped all over the US and Canada. I’ve got big bonus’s over the last 10 years because of the high dollar freight rates these loads have paid. I couldn’t imagine them telling these customers to go pound sand.

I did find out that we are still running out there, just not as much.
