Annoyed! Left turn signal keeps blowing fuse

Unplug the hood harness and go for a test drive

if it still pops then it’s not in the harness you unplugged .

Remove the bulb from the rear light and go for a drive ,
If it still pops you know it’s not the bulb
It could be inside the light So unplug the rear light and go for a drive ,

if it still pops then find the next connector up by the cab and unplug it etc

just start at the light and work your way back to the switch unplugging connections
until You go for a drive and it doesn’t blow , then you know which section of wire it’s in .


I would also make a circuit breaker to replace the fuse .
Use the same amp rated circuit breaker as the fuse , and make some jumper wires with the spade connectors on the ends to plug into the fuse box where the fuse goes .

that way it will reset itself and you won’t be having to stop and replace the fuse all the time

 

Best bet is to pick a left turn signal and follow the harness back. More than likely the harness has rubbed through on a clamp or something else.

 

Go back and read post #9 by haycarter. 2 others have mentioned the trailer cord and I don't see anything where you addressed that. Also see AModelCat above.

 

You’ve just got to start eliminating sections of the harness

the easiest one to eliminate is the trailer cord
Just unplug it and go for a drive bobtail .

If it still blows the fuse , find the next harness connection and unplug it and go for a drive , etc

that’s how you isolate which section of harness the problem is in
