I was thinking of you a couple three weeks ago when I had a master halco trainee, but he flamed out before I could ask you about the account.

I'm glad you're doing well and are happy. I've also struggled with this transition to the new pay structure - are you purely hourly or a mix of mileage and hourly for line 4 time? Like you my instinct is to minimize my on duty time so I have more options. What I've found works for me is to log conservatively early in the week until I have hours to make it back home, then EVERYTHING is on duty after that, and once I'm home I will go back and edit all of the off duty from earlier in the week to on duty.

i'm purely hourly now. both drive time and on duty time are paid the same. if we get to 45 hours in a week we're guaranteed a flat rate depending on our tenure. for me its $1350 for my 45th hour up to the 56th hour, and then on the 57th hour I start making more. $24.05 is my hourly rate so if i get all 70 hours that's $1683. if i add in the $400 stay out bonus and a $46 performance bonus, that's the potential to gross $2129; which I did for a couple weeks in a row on the walmart account in sterling. it was fabulous.

i've also run some accounts that just barely made it to the 45 hour mark by the end of the week, though. it sucks to go from that huge gross one week to a smaller gross. in the end, as long as i get to 45 hours every week i'm still making more than i did on salary, so i've got no reason to complain (yet).

Man, that's just confusing to me, but I'm old so give me that.
    X per mile, X per hour.......and we're good

oh yeah, i agree and im relatively young lol.

i'm sure they're having a hard time explaining this to the new hire NDFs that are just now coming into this system. for awhile the NDF job listing was removed from the schneiderjobs site, and i bet its because they were trying to figure out a way to advertise the position in a way that isn't completely confusing. it's hard enough as it is explaining what exactly NDF is to someone who knows little to nothing about trucking, try adding on all this extra hourly stuff on top and it's enough to melt the strongest of brains. lol.

i had to sit down and write it out on paper after my leader told me, and it still barely made sense lmao. once the check stubs started coming in then i really understood it.

Forget your "non-standard freaky deaky deal", most of our office workers don't understand our basic OTR pay structure - new or old. And they still haven't caught on to the fact that it's now better for us to burn the heck out our 70 so we don't get a short haul load Friday afternoon. Late February I was in early on Friday and I was asked if I could cover a local load. Under the old pay structure I would have jumped at it becuase it would have paid my $35 an hour. However under the 'new' pay structure it was more beneficial for me to have stayed on line 4 while being unloaded that morning. Yeah, I made $60 less than I could have (under the new pay structure), but I was done 4 hours earlier. I'll take that trade off without a thought - but offer me $140 for those 4 hours my opinion will change.

I used to make sure I had time to do local load and stages when I hit the house - as long as I was home for dinner I didn't care if what happened before that. Now I want my 70 to expire just after I get to GB, and 'somehow' that seems to happen every week.
