Can I vape?

I read, e-cigs do produce a spark, but is sealed in the switch, and should not be a problem.

 

Its a grey are thing. However, most companys will say no save for maybe inside the truck. When i was in the oil field we had one guy with one of those cheap chinese ecigs and near as they could tell from the security footage at the lact. The battery exploded and caused a huge fire with all the hydro carbon gas. There was also another one where the spark ignighted the exhaust fumes while loading and lead to an explosion.

So keep in mind "not as dangerious" is a very relitive thing when it comes to ignition sources and explosive gas.

 

Any heat source, including the heating element in a vape, is a potential source of ignition.

 

If you ignite the gas in the truck driving with a Vape something has gone drastically wrong. And I have yet in all my years in the oilfield seen a positive pressure cab or intrinsically safe electronics.

 

No worse than any other non 'Intrinsically safe' electronic item like your cell phone, headset, etc. however, the facility may still want to eliminate any possibility, even if the still allow your cell phone, etc.

One plant making nitro-cellulose [AKA Gun Cotton] for the government confiscated all lighters and matches at the guard shack and you got to pick 'yours' up off a big tray on your way out.

I'll bet today there are a bunch of vape pens on that tray....

Mid 80's I atended a fire science class taught by the NJ DEP bureau cheif of emergency response where he grabbed on of the volunteer's pagers and passed it around for everyone to read the label 'intrinsically safe' marking before commenting on his state supplied pager not having similar markings for the same reason his state car was a Chrysler Aries K stationwagon, the american Yugo.

Any facility with the possibility of an explosive atmosphere probably won't like it.

Vaping is just as bad as smoking cigarettes.

 

I don’t vape because I always think they’ll explode in my mouth plus not a fan of vaping. Some of them smell tooo fruity for me to handle. These are better for me.
