Do you have your CDL or are you going into their driving school?? Steven's has a long string of posts in here.. do a search and look at the post a bad trucking co here.. You'll find a LOT of threads on them from students going through training now.. I have a friends cousin who is there now and the B.S. is sometimes ridiculous.. They have some pretty silly "rules". (No cough syrup, nothing stronger than tylenol for medacine??, my buddy had the flue and was sick for like a month.. he was saying "Steven's wouldn't let him take anything for it".. )

Also, when he got to TX they MADE all students get a TX drivers license!! Even though they were NOT residents of the state??? Now Steven't is saying TX is his "home" when he wants to go home for time off? (He found a girlfriend in TX so he doesn't mind but if it wern't for this I would be livid, no way!! He is from NH originaly).

Steven's makes you "earn" the right to use the jake brake... and the cruise control.. you have to have so many weeks solo before getting these features turned on in your truck (after you go solo)

The trainers are barely out of school themselves.. Now poof they're "trainers" with maybe 1 year experiance...give me a break!

They WILL PESTER YOU into becoming a LEASE OPERATOR... Even after you say NO.. They don't take NO for an answer.. they keep calling... "We are going to keep calling till you say YES is their responce"! It's a JOKE.. DO NOT EVER LEASE it's not even a lease purchase, you NEVER own the truck you have all the responcibility but will never own it! They hold your hand way too much there for me.. Typical revolving door student driver / CDL MILL....

Why would anyone want to work for these big crapy companies? No pay No hometime, trucking is not what it used to be. Its just a big pile of corporate BS. Find smaller companys that care about there people. If people would quit working for these rip offs they would close there doors. But no matter how much negative you can find on a company theres a line a mile long to live the dream of being a truck driver. :biggrin_25526:

The problem is for alot of these smaller companies is that they require experience, and in my experience, at least in my area, they seldom/never hire new inexperienced and untrained drivers. They could always try to get on with an owner operator, but the benefits arent there. I was offered a pre hire at May and an owner operator called and offered to train me. May had better pay and benefits which the owner operator couldnt offer me.
