I'am more concerned about the statement he made in his OP.. about having a (college Certificate for heavy duty apprentice.)
WTF is that ???
I've changed a butt load of tires over the past 50 years
Changed tires before I was even old enough to think about college .I never went to college I sure don't have that certificate
Could I be looking at federal prison time for all those tires I've changed
Is it illegal when a trucker change tire on the road by him self?

Kinda funny because any dealer I've worked for, the manufacturer has required all mechanics to take training covering basic theory before being eligible for actual product specific training. Its like dude, this is the same basic stuff we covered in the apprenticeship. -
They had a tire truck on site, he was making a fortune, i called someone else, figured he was on the take.Feedman, Last Call and Big Road Skateboard Thank this. -
That’s what they will get you for, if your truck is in good shape and they can’t find any else.
Last Call Thanks this. -
I've seen tickets for loose lug nuts and missing lug nuts but I don't think I've ever even heard of one for lug nuts being too tight.
I could see it happening though. CHP doesn't like people who fail the attitude test.D.Tibbitt, kemosabi49, MACK E-6 and 1 other person Thank this. -

Back in 1989, I was going to Georgia, in Kentucky on 75. As I crested a hill, there was a truck on the side of the road with a flat steer.
The driver was changing the tire, he was jumping on the pipe to get the lug nuts loose while traffics was wizzing by.
As I passed the truck in the left lane, there were people who were flying by in the right lane really close to the white line as the driver was working on the lug nuts, I was watching in my mirror and saw some clown hit the truck and driver, and saw his body fly into the lane I was in and hit again by the truck behind a few hundred yards behind me.
This is the reason why my drivers CALL road service and is forbidden to do work on the truck, especially on the side of the road.rollin coal and wis bang Thank this. -
MACK E-6 Thanks this.
