Speaking of shredded trailer tires, I saw a strange thing about a week or two ago. There was an Abilene Trailer sitting along the interstate heading the opposite direction. Just the trailer, no green tractor anywhere to be seen. There was a Loves/PFJ Tech Truck parked behind the trailer and all four tires were completely off the rear axle. Didn’t see any laying around or sit to the side or anything while one or two were getting fixed. Just a bare axle.

Maybe they sent the Driver to the local tire shop to pickup four new tires and having them mounted to the rims while the on-site Tire Tech took a lunch break roadside.

anyway, it all caught my eye.

    Stay Safe!!!

If you saw some of these power only trucks they are sending our trailers out with and how they’re tearing them up, I wouldn’t be surprised if Haj left the trailer on the side of the interstate and went on and became an Amazon Prime super trucker. I saw one last week almost roll a trailer over leaving the Loves in Bates City Mo. But alas, it’s all about money. Even with power only, sometimes you get what you pay for. Just like some company drivers that are hired here.

Got empty at the Kroger DC in Salem Va Sunday night. And I might add, with absolutely no issues whatsoever. In 1.5 hours early, out at my original delivery time, and no lumper fee. Pretty cool experience at that Kroger.

Got a deadhead move the 58 miles down to the Wytheville yard to drop the empty reefer, no load assignment which I figured, so bobtailed up to the Pilot and went to bed. Anytime I can go to bed and not worry about getting up is good. I figured sometime in the morning after 0800 my QC and app would be beeping and ringing. But no, finally, after driving over to Dennys for an All American Slam, I had to call in. So at 0930 I called. My DM is on a much needed vacation and is sitting in Maui right now, so I’m free game for whoever answers the phone. Was offered Brooklyn, Newark or York PA for this morning. I took the York. It’s going to Starbucks DC. Been there before, nice easy unload. Right now I’m having breakfast at the Petro in Carlisle. Will head over for my 0800 appointment shortly.

This trailer I hooked to at the yard had an issue. All my top trailer lights weren’t on when I did my pretrip, but the bottom ones were. Fuse issue I was sure. Popped the hood opened the fuse box, pulled F23 and sure as heck, the fuse was blown. Got my 10 pound sledge out, torch, and assorted other tools and went to work. For a moment I thought to call breakdown and get a road call initiated, but my team player mode kicked in and I took care of the issue in all of 5 minutes. Glad to save this multibillion dollar company some money. Actually, I’m quite sure everyone in Richmond and Phoenix could give a rats arse.

Ya, I saw a roll over the other day too. They were attempting a highly difficult maneuver requiring mega skill set and experience to accomplish.

Left Turn onto an On Ramp…

I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt and assume it was a blow over due to tornado level winds and a light load.

It wont be long and you will be pulling Swift and Knight trailers. That way they can give all three companies any load they have laying around. One big happy family.

We already do that. Not on the regular, but I've hooked a Knight trailer before. And I saw a US Express truck pulling an Abilene trailer onto the yard the other day.

    Yeah, like 3-4 months ago?

Not much change around here, really, as they've had an arrangement with Abilene to use our Richmond yard as a drop lot since before Abilene was bought by Knight-Swift. We've always had USX trucks and trailers on the lot as long as I've worked here.

Only freight we had going out of Richmond today was a trip from BH Petersburg to BH Groveport. I'll be picking that one up around 2:00pm and arriving in Groveport around midnight.
