Unloaded my volvo load Monday, 6 hrs to unload me plus they gave me a dock on the far left where I had barely enough room to 90 it in. Running recaps so had to wait til Tuesdsy to get the coilmaster load picked up going 567 Logistics by the yard and just dropped that. Waiting to see if they got anything going to Wytheville and if not new terminal manager said he was just going to bounce me over, which really means bounce home from Richmond cuz I generally get a load to Wytheville then bounce up to home.

We always go “off duty”. We usually know when the load will be ready. But on those rare occasions that we play the up and down game checking on the status, then you’re not getting the right amount of rest or quality rest. Me, I’d be telling dispatch when I’d be making delivery, if it isn’t good for them, then they can take me off the load. A days layover is ok, but proper rest is better. Remember, you and only you are the captain of that ship, not dispatch.

    I got both.

Apparently this was a last-minute "nobody was expecting this" load (which is why it wasn't ready, because BH Petersburg literally hadn't made the product yet), and even then they were only able to put about 1/3rd of the order on the trailer. Delivery time was "sometime today".

So I slept the sleep of the Just last night and arrived at BH Petersburg this morning circa 6:20am.

Well, to the Drivers defense, those “don't hit me” poles don't actually say don’t hit me. How would we expect anyone to know they aren’t there to be bumpers or something.

48Packard, ExtremeUnction and dwells40 Thank this.

Sometimes I am tickled by my fellow truckers.

Picked up a BH load a few minutes ago. Only 36k lbs of freight.

BH Groveport doesn't want us sliding our tandems on their yard, so most of us do it at the gate. For 36k, I could slide the tandems all the way up. But I like to leave enough of a gap between the tires and the trailer skirt that I can get up under there if I need to.

And so it was that I was sliding my tandems at the gate when one of my fellow truckers decided I needed help. Dude has no clue how much freight I got on me, nor any clue where I want those pins to go, but he's back there on his haunches, staring at my rails, and waggling his index finger telling me to "Go go go!"

Once I got the tandems where I wanted 'em, I locked the pins, whereupon the dude stood up and gave me the thumbs up for a job well done.

    Couldn't help but laugh.

He was hired as the official “at the gate tandem slider inspector.” Really though, it seems we’ve come a long way with knowledgeable and helpful drivers.
