Mr.Rob on the weekend, came through once again, don't know what I'd do without them.

Saturday morning deadhead from Richmond,to Wytheville to grab a preloaded going to Carlisle, drop that deadhead back to Richmond,to load Monday morning, going back to fostoria,oh for a drop anytime Tuesday.

Just a heads up if you ever get the fostoria load its a drop, regardless of what the load assignment says, and if they dont have a empty, they'll unload you anytime you get there.

Rob is awesome! Glad he’s still there. He made working weekends as a local driver so amazing. I put him up there almost with Higgins and (for me) Jonathan. Those guys would go the extra mile to keep you running. And if they only had “not so good” loads and you would “take one for the team” when they asked, when you got back, they would have a really good one for you. They kept their word. Not too many people do that nowadays.

That saying of “take one for the team” sits so true for me. After all these years, it stands for, me delivering on time, safely, everytime, and for their part, making sure my check is in the bank every Friday morning at 2am. Gets no better then that. Even though it’s a 3 ring circus at 1700 Willis Rd, we make a great team after all these years.

Hometime coming up this weekend. Got plans to take my kids to the National Aquarium in Baltimore.

But jakes on the truck are throwing a transmission fault whenever I'm going down a steep hill with a heavy load. Which is (you'll note) exactly the circumstance under which I would want to use my jakes. And when the KW has a transmission fault, it won't upshift. In order to reset it, I gotta pull over and turn the truck off and let it think for a minute about what it's done.

However, these instances do not always happen in places where pulling off on the side of the road for a minute is a safe or convenient thing to do. In some instances, there isn't even a shoulder.

But putting the truck in the shop today means basically no miles this pay period, because pay period starts today and it is unlikely that I'll be back in the truck soon enough to haul a load and be back for hometime. So I figured I'd grin and bear it for another day or so.

Went in to the office, asked for a load, was offered a Long Island Hill-Phoenix load. Told 'em that was fine, when is it due? 7 o'clock tomorrow. Groovy. Can hook it and be up there tonight for delivery in the morning. Hill-Phoenix load, so pretty good chance I can park on-site overnight. If not, I can park at Vince Lombardi and leave at O-Dark-Thirty to avoid the traffic and make on-time delivery.

Got the load assignment and discovered that it delivers at 7:00pm tomorrow. Which means today would be spent sitting around twiddling my thumbs.

Called 'em back, asked 'em for something else. Something that would get me rolling today, not tomorrow. Three hours have passed with no such loads forthcoming.

So, screw it, I'm putting the truck in the shop. If I'm gonna sit around twiddling my thumbs, I'd just as soon do it at home and increase the chances that my jakes will be fixed when I come back next Monday.

How bad can a minor oversight be? “AM” or “PM”, for NE trip planning? I’m a firm believer, and have been saying it for years, a load planner or DM without a CDL must ride in a truck with a senior driver for 2 weeks. First load, Brooklyn Boars Head, second load, a nice light 3 case load across Wyoming in January, next, a reload coming out of Los Angeles on a Friday at about 4pm.

I have asked numerous times. A couple of years ago I was in a yelling match with one of our previous Ops manager about the same idea, went nowhere. I’m thinking he couldn’t be away from his weekend golf game.
