6 axle Reitnouer trailer w two drop steer axles

Let's see how I can explain this and make others mad. With a multi axle flat, your pulling more weight than carrying on tractor. Your dragging the load. I'm gonna say to much psi and the tractor axle weights are light. Lower psi, and raise in turn. Now I'm a few years behind. But Ohio would watch and wait for you to lift axles in a turn. Then pull you over and void your permits, if they seen them up. I hear it has changed, but I do not know forsure. Steerable or not. It corners better with them in the air. Think about this. Most guys with 4x10's or 4x9's can drop trailer loaded and not put dollies down.

You can run straight tread tires on a 5 axle, but you better have lug drives on 6/7 axle rigs. Your pulling weight, not carrying it. Hard to get weight on tractor.

 

Lower psi, how fast do the tractor drive tires wear out?


Do you have load Gauge on drive axles, would be worth having.

Those 3 axle triadums are useless in my mind, and hard on tires.

 

Are you loading tail heavy like a tridum? Why I don't like that set up. It's designed for inexperienced drivers.

I don't know who you drive, or pull for. But I can imagine who the customers are. Do you hand tarp, or have Conestoga, or sidekit? Are you belly loading? "ALL in the center because trailer manufacturer and coworkers say it's fine". Load placement is more important. 139k is alot, but nothing exciting.

 

Tractor steer weight?

 

You are in Mich and Ontario. Mich is an axle weight state. You need to weigh each axle separately and adjust pressure to suit. 13,000 lbs on the close axles/under 9’ spread. 18000 on the 9’ spread axles. It’s all about axle weight in Mich.

 

Oh and I just did the math, you can gross 139999 in Ontario with that but not in Mich. If you have floats on the steer and can get 18000 on it, your gross is 138000 in Mich.

 

Im just surprised anyone would trust a reitnouer enough to put that kinda weight on it
