Had a night from you know where last night. Carlisle Pa to Camp hill and back to Carlisle Followed by an Avenel Nj. turn. Left Avenel at 0530 in the rain with rush hour traffic. Idiots going 55 in the middle lane on I78. Raining light not hard. Spent at least 20 miles of the 22 miles on 78 in the far left lane hating everybody. I really used to love my job but with all the traffic and the bells and tattle tales on these trucks I really despise it now. 5 days a week in New England is starting to wear on me.

 

I would be willing to bet money the vast majority of drivers that started in the 80s and earlier will bail as soon as they can .

 

Turned 60 in July, trying to go at 67 and a half. Works for my pension and social security. With my 401k We should we okay. Wish you the best man, you deserve this.

 

I appreciate it ! I will still have to work part time but it sure as hell won't be in trucking .

 

Been up since last night at 2115 and on my 4th beer. The hate is sloooowly wearing off.

 

I'll probably retire from driving when we have to be forced into driving evs

 

Remember when it was fun? Back row at the truck stop grilling burgers and drinking beer? Crawling up on the scale house and dot want's to see your log book? Hand it to him and he says well at least you are on today's date. Tired as heck wanting to hit a truck stop and someone calls out to you on cb. How far you going tonight need someone to keep me awake. Wind up driving another 5 hundred miles. Miss those days. Idiots ruined that.

 

Yep and big truck crashes were a once in a while occurrence instead of hourly.

 

We, not you and I but truck drivers in general did this to us.
