Life is all about change buddy and it is inevitable, I've discussed this move with several other owner op friends and they all agree that they would do the same if in my situation, bottom line with me is i don't like what this job has evolved to , and the quality of most cmv operators these days and I'm burned out ....I want to start having a normal home life and and enjoying what I've worked for .
If it doesent work out I can always go back to trucking.

 

Finished moving into my truck just have to do laundry and put everything away then will be set to go for the morning.

 

Yup, this s hole industry ain't going anywhere lol

 

In 5 to 5.5 months when they pull this truck off line for trade or to sell. I'm done to I'll be almost 63yrs old. Not going to retire completely but it's time to call it a done deal.

Exactly! ...I dont want to be one of those drivers that works until they fail a physical and then it's wham ! What do I do now ?
Or they find me dead in my truck 1100 miles from home ? I'm in good health now but at 60 I don't know how much longer it's going to last ?
Lots of thought went into this and I want to be prepared instead of being blindsided and enjoy life while I'm still healthy and not just go home to die as I've seen some do or not get home at all.

 

Well sorta what happened to me last year, went to renew my physical only got a three month card so had to go to my primary care doctor and cardiologist they put me BP medication then got a one year card. Probably have to take BP medication rest of my life I guess. But when I'm out of the truck it goes significantly Lol

 

Yeah let's face it ...trucking isn't a healthy lifestyle and never has been.

 

Wish more truck stops has gyms it would help for us drivers so we can stay healthy help with blood pressure.
