When you first began driving, what were you making CPM and how far were you allowed to drive a week? I was told you start off around .40-.50 CPM when you begin and drive around 2,000-2,500 miles a week. Is that true? Also how many years did it take you to see a increase in both? I'm ready to begin my trucking career but still want to get more research before I begin. As long as I can make around $700+ a week I'll be happy cause I only make that about 2 weeks each month.

The place I'm gonna go to told me that CPM is what I'll be looking at when I start which would be around $800-$1,200 a week if I remember my math correctly. Either way most I made was about $800 a week with landscaping every other week so as long as it's the same or higher each week I ain't gonna complain lol

CPM should be only a part of the pay. You should also get accessorial pays. Ask about that.

That does not always amount to very much.
I might get some layover or breakdown pay now and then, detention pay at very slow customers, stop pay with extra stops... but those things don't happen very often for me.

    Bud A. Thanks this.

I've always gotten good accessorial pays. Varied by trucking company; some were better than others.
The last reefer company I worked for and followed by a tanker company we got:
Stop pay just for arriving at a customer.
Detention hourly pay after being at the customer for one hour or longer.
Paid for the 10 hour required break.
    Meal money and receipts required.
34 hr. restart pay. Choice of hotel room or cash. I always took the cash and slept in the truck.
One company paid to do pre-trip & post-trip inspection
Paid 1/2 hour pay to fuel the truck.
Ask about accessorial pays when you talk to a company about a driving job.

Bud A., lual and Ryan0077 Thank this.

So depending on the company, you're mostly going to make more money each week after CPM weekly pay?

Accessorial pay in addition to CPM.
That's why I pulled reefers for 18 years.
