I'm not sure what that has to do with being with a roommate, unless you are uncomfortable reading to yourself with someone else in the room.
    Ya, I could get that.

For me, I would just want the room to myself and not have to put up with a stranger that is strange and intrusive.

Which I did, by the way.
I used my room voucher for my half, and paid the other half in place of the other person.

    Bud A. Thanks this.

I tried to stay out at least 3 weeks. Each company has their own home time policies. Just depends on which company you go with. I stayed out 3 weeks because I like to keep the wheels turning and wake up in a different state or city every day.

I had hazmat when I started.
A hazmat load paid an extra $25, for all the extra hassle involved. Not worth it, so I dropped it at my next renewal.

The only time I was ever pulled over at random for an inspection was simply that I was carrying a hazmat load.
Rather funny that. When the officer started the inspection he was stung by a bee. Started feeling funny so he cut me loose.

Bud A. and Chinatown Thank this.

Well yeah that's another reason to. Definitely don't wanna sleep in a room with a stranger

Bud A. and Moosetek13 Thank this.

The same as now. Home every 4-5 weeks for 3 full days.

Like Chinatown said, it depends on your company... and maybe your terminal and DM.
The drivers at my terminal like home time more often, and I am always being asked why my home time request is not in yet.

Bud A. and Chinatown Thank this.

The tanker company and the reefer company offered me local/home everyday and I turned that down. I like coast-to-coast and border-to-border trucking.

    Moosetek13 Thanks this.

Yes and hated it. Traffic congestion all day, every day.

Bud A. and Moosetek13 Thank this.

That's how I was at first too.
Then I was talked into doing the Great Lakes Region to help out in that area, and I liked it so much that I stayed with it.

It is still like OTR, just a smaller area where I don't have to go to places I don't like.
The east coast, west coast, the deep south...
But I still stay out for the same amount of time.

I also don't have obligations that need me to be 'home' more often, which other do.

    Chinatown Thanks this.

Ok, I can see me being like you and Chinatown. Being away from home for weeks apart and traveling border to border and coast to coast. Sadly mileage will hurt for my first year.
