I believe there’s also a rest area before you get to that exit.

Mine was $1704, $1189 after taxes. But I also put 6% of gross into my 401k from the default option. Plus Uncle Sam needed a little over $400 of that.

I also opted out of the per diem bs

The per diem isn't bs it's a tax savings unless you have a lot of write offs

Yeah, except it lowers your federal gross which makes it harder to get loans and stuff

Plus I get a much larger tax refund than people who are on per diem. Last year I was on per diem and only got $300 back from federal and actually owed the state of Kansas money

You do know that a refund is money coming from an interest free loan to uncle sam..

He doesn't seem to understand that lol. It does lower the federal gross but if you show bank statements and pay stubs to some banks they'll count it as income to get the loan you want...

    drvrtech77 and BigR Thank this.

My employer has it all broken down on per diem..listing gross wages and taxable wages separately so anyone can differentiate and whatnot..makes it easy to see it all

    rokue and BigR Thank this.

When I was at Poly we were forced per diem...that didn't float when I tried to refi my mortgage. Plus, if you're hurt or lose your job, the workers comp and unemployment people don't accept those either. Plus, it also lowers your Social Security.
