This setup will need a CDL and endorsements. DOT# is the giveaway, I believe.

I’d say best to have, farm hauling maybe water from farm to spray rig the farm owned may be different, but you’re still hauling for hire there.

That’s what I’m thinking, trying to protect the kid. Believe they’re trying to buffalo him

Tell him go Saturday and get the endorsement/ It was five bucks and 10 multiple-choice questions that you had to get Six right when I took it

I think that’s the approach we’re going to take since hazmat isn’t involved . But it still has my curiosity piqued

farmers and coop employees can get plenty of exemptions. pretty sure they can even get a 90 day temp hazmat to pull anhydrous tanks and such. I'm sure it varies by state. just have him go get tanker endorsement and be done with it.
back when I was helping farm we had a water tanker we pulled all over a 60 mile radius and across Stateline. no brakes, very little working lights, no tanker endorsement. not saying it was smart but some how got away with it. did take a lot of back roads

So long story short, the kid pushed back about this and said he was willing to pick up his endorsement but really wanted them to point out in the regs where he didn’t need it. They basically ignored him but alls well that ends well and he is going back to open deck a week from Monday. The co op turned out to not be his cup of tea and is parting ways with them on good terms

Probably for the best. If they ignored him wanting to make sure he was covering his own behind they didn't much care about him.
