Abilene Motor Express....A New Place To Call Home

Pffttt!!! One call and then the # gets blocked. Any # that comes close to it, also gets blocked # . They want to know where their freight is, call dispatch. Oh, right, they can’t tell exactly where you are unless you’ve been stopped for a while. Or maybe that’s changed since there’s new tracking devices on the trailers?

 

I liked the one dude I talked to who insisted that I was required by Abilene policy to install their broker app on my phone so that they could properly track detention. Told me it was for my benefit, to make sure I got my detention on time if I earned any.

I explained that (A) detention was 100% between me and Abilene, and whether Abilene got any from the shipper or the broker had no bearing on whether or not I would get any from Abilene; (B) Abilene does not require us to run any specific apps on our phones; and (C) if they ever changed their mind about that, they'd have to buy me a phone, because I have a flip phone and couldn't install an app on it if I wanted.

 

Thy had texted me from several different numbers…numbers ranging from east coast all the way to Washington state…

 

Been a rough week,got 1500 since I came out Tuesday,was supposed to del in Fl Wednesday morning,but they pushed it back till Wednesday night.Than I was put on a Miami Wednesday to pu Thursday morning delivering in Chesapeake Saturday night,get to the yard early Friday afternoon wont let me drop it,got to amazon last night,and they changed the appt till tonight,didn't let anyone know,brought it back to the yard last night and dropped it,washing my hands clean with it,the broker can reschedule,and abilene can fire me,cant sit on a 1000 mile load for 5 days.

 

About the only way that they would fire you, if you went into the president's office and had a bowel movement on top of his desk. and even with that happening, I highly doubt they would fire you.

 

Sounds like two days of layover to me.

Delivered my broker load of brazilian cosmetic products south of Nashville this morning, new warehouse starting to stock up. Really nice and friendly ppl. Got bounced back to the yard to drop the reefer then sent to Volvo for a York load. Get to Volvo and discover the load was picked up already because the planner accidentally put two drivers on the same load. Ended up with a Jacksonville that just got finished loaded. 14 was ate up so had to PC back to the yard due to that fiasco. At least I don’t gotta wait til ppl come in to get a load in the morning.

 

There's two convenience stores with truck parking a mile up US-72 from Volvo Byhalia.
