I've been blessed with the Apu in all four trucks I've had here sometimes a squieling belt but that's it.

If the Apu doesn't start the first time keep hitting that start button and after pressing it press it again and hold it'll bypass the wait time to start and you can keep doing that over and over until it finally cranks. The steering wheel shaking is a issue you definitely need to get looked at.

I did that once but it taking 23 times before it actually starts is pretty excessive to me. I don’t think the glow plug is doing its job. I can’t always go out to my truck on home time to start it so I can start the APU to make sure the truck doesn’t go dead. As for the steering wheel shake, it’s done it ever since I got the truck. I’ve mentioned it a couple times to the CB shop that I think the steers aren’t balanced right but they never did anything with it so I assumed it wasn’t a big deal

It won’t be a wheel balance issue, all of our trucks have the centramatics. It could be something as simple as a tire not mounted correctly on the rim, or depending on the mileage bad king pin or worn out kingpin bushings.

It could also be a tire out of round. Easy check for shop is to jack truck up just until Wheel is off ground and spin the tire.

I can “put off” a lot of things, but a shaking steering wheel ain’t one of ‘em. Either fix it or give me another unit. Schneider tried that with me years ago when I was a company hand. They found the problem.

A friend at Moore had one of their Volvos that had a front end shake the entire time he was there. They replaced everything except the springs and the steer axle itself. Kingpins, brake drums, wheels, tires, 3 axle alignment, shocks, bearings, balanced all 10 tires. Nothing fixed it.
