$20 per hour to sleep sounds like a good deal to me. We don’t do many grocery warehouse loads. Maybe because the company pays the detention even if they don’t collect it from the grocery warehouse.
I did one grocery warehouse that run my HOS out for the day. The nearest place to park was truck stop that changed $30 per night to park. I asked my company in advance what if the grocery warehouse runs my HOS out. They said to park at nearest safe place available and they will pay for the parking. They paid for lumper plus $20 hour for me to wait after 1 hour for unloading. Then they had to pay $30 to park the truck. That was on them for taking that grocery warehouse load, I hope they got a good rate on the load lol

They will dispatch us on 3 drop and hooks a day. That’s equal to 3 hours driving or 150 miles of time we lose. Then they complain about getting 350 miles for the day vs 500.
What they would like is for drivers to make up that 3 hours by showing only during 10 hour break. That’s not always possible because you have get fuel plus parking spot. When truck stop is full I’m not walking in snow from back parking lot for a shower
350x5days is 1750 miles a week for us, so they are doing everything they can to get us up to 2100 miles for 5 days. If they worked more on getting us longer runs we could get more miles with less work. We have a guaranteed minimum pay so the less miles I drive the my rate per goes up. The company would rather have us run more miles. That’s were the problem kinda is because I want for miles, but not more and more drop and hooks. Doing 3 drop and hooks a day is 3 hours give or take. Over 5 days that’s 15 a week or 15 hours.MSWS and hope not dumb twucker Thank this. -
I’m torn on drop an hooks, sure it’s nice not waiting at a dock. But it adds extra pre and post trips. But sitting at a dock usually takes longer. One nice thing is you know your trailer if you have it for a while. Where I work we don’t get a minimum, would be nice, but if we let dispatch know at the 2 hour mark detention kicks in. Better than nothing.
