I had to vote for other because I have always known better to hook up to any of the other choices.
-
I worked 4 several large companies in my 16 years driving. Arnold and Interstate distributers of tacoma were both realy bad. KLLM were not real good either.

I didn't find it particularly "hard to get in".
But I'll agree with you about it being hard to "get-out".
I didn't "leave everything behind".
As far as it not being there when I got back, --- that's life.
And not exclusive to Big truck truckin'.
I've never heard of pre-scrambled eggs.
If y'all ordered those eggs sunny-side up, send 'em back.
Once y'all let bitterness get a foot-hold in your life, it festers.
Does that mean you're a "DUM-###"?
what they say?
Not for me.
Pretty simple concept, actually.
However, I'm gettin' the impression that understanding might not
be your strongest attribute.
their goals.
Wealth is not measured only by monetary value.
Are you having a hard time comprehending a defeatist attitude?
If you think you can achieve, there's a chance that you will.
If you're convinced that you can't, you probably won't.
And the good news is, you get to make the choice.
How cool is that?
One has only to "GIVE" it an earnest attempt.
Ask not what the world can give to you,
Ask what you can give to the world.
While others have "DISCOVERED" that the government cannot provide all that it promises.
It's all good.
Many of us know our limitations, and know when it's the proper time to say NO.
Inclement weather is one of those times when 'NO' might be the correct answer, and a much safer bet.
Followin' that line of reasoning won't get'cha very far.
What have you been "GIVING" for the past three posts?
Sour grape whine.
From the sound of your ranting, you have some serious issues.
I hope you'll learn to deal with, and come to grips with them.
I shutter to think what an attitude and outlook such as you've presented here could cause out there on the road.
CHUNKY MONKEY Thanks this. -
Sound like the trucking lifstyle made you a bitter person . I under stand, me too! The questions from all the newbees are all good questions though. They have the trucking industry sold to them by trucking schools with tv commercials and flyers on bulletin boards. The job books in the truck stops and recruters that try to sell a job like a used car salesman. Know one tells them the truth before its to late and they are already at there first driving job and BAM. REALITY! The lies, bullying, black listing, bad pay, sitting and waiting for hours with no pay, DOT, Driving in bad weather, break downs with no pay, and not getting home or being home at all when you want to. They never talk to an old vet that knew trucking in "the good old days" and is still doing it cause its all he knows. I was there when it was good, but when I see the trucking school aid on tv I laugh out loud every time. Trucking is the worst its ever been in the modern era. Their is so little freight. All the big companies have drivers sitting for days waiting for loads. Running half the miles they should in a week and living in a truck for weeks at a time. Know one tells the newbees this stuff. They are sold a bunch crap about freedom, see the country like they are on vacation and big money!!!!! The reality is its more like prison on wheels. Do what we say when we say and nothing else or we will find someone else and put bad things on your DAC so you have a hard time getting a new job. No one tells then about the Dac. No one tells them how much it cost to live on the road. They never hear about being black listed cause they would not drive in a snow storm and the load was late because that realy cant happen. its illegal. Ra right! Some people may say suck it up and do your job but if these newbees new what they were getting in to it probibly wouldnt be their job.

What wannaBees and newBees may not realize is that there are veterans in the truckin' industry who not only don't appreciate what some of the large training companies are doin', but they harbor feelings of animosity and even contempt for those wannaBees who sign the dotted line, thereby agreeing to drive for less pay, --- which translates into larger profits for the companies that are, in essence, taking advantage of the situation.
Why should experienced and/or seasoned veterans be concerned or upset?
Well, ......... because the truckin' companies primary objective is to turn as large a profit as possible, the less expensive it is to move freight, the larger the profit.
One way the companies are cutting costs is to pay their drivers less,
and that filters down to the experienced, seasoned drivers, too. In the not so distant past, truckin' companies offered better pay as an incentive to lure and retain their drivers. But now-a-daze, with the glut of applications submitted by starry-eyed wannaBees who haven't properly researched the industry, combined with applications for employment submitted by folks out of desperation, who just want to find ANY job that will pay them SOMEthing, many truckin' companies are taking advantage by keeping the pay low, and/or not increasing a driver's pay as much as they gain experience. In some cases, it's more profitable for companies to get rid of drivers when they approach pay raise time. Rather than retain drivers, such companies prefer to train a new batch, --- for a fee, (read profit), and pay them less to relocate freight.
A revolving door. Chew 'em up and spit 'em out.
If more wannaBees refused to the terms those companies offer, it would affect the company's bottom line, called profit. No drivers, no freight moves. What do y'all suppose the truckin' companies would do then?
Who said raise the pay and treat their drivers better?
That's what I was thinkin', too.
As newBees drivin' for one of the, so called, "starter" companies, don't be surprised if y'all detect some resentment from the experienced, seasoned Big truck truck drivers. They consider those newBees to be one of the problems within the industry by undercutting wages, and even preventing experienced drivers from being hired at all.
Remember the complaints registered when NAFTA was initiated?
Many were concerned that drivers from south of the border would undercut American driver's pay. Well, ...... it didn't seem to happen exactly that way. I don't recall any concerns expressed that Americans would be undercutting American's pay. But that's what it amounts to.
There have been cases where some of the training companies have created situations causing the higher paid, experienced drivers to quit, --- then replace them with those who will drive for less. And replace those drivers when they gain experience, or not increase their pay as has been the practice in the past.
By undercutting the experienced drivers, the newBees are steppin' on the toes of the experienced drivers. They don't appreciate that.
For years drivers have been trying to get pay increased to a more fair amount. Now, they watch as their efforts, and any gains realized, fly right out the window.
Higher pay is known to attract a better quality employee.
Lower pay, ............ well, ---- y'all do the math.
What's the solution?
It ain't a pretty picture, is it?
