Well there’s video out there of the crash, and man is it rough. Looks like the driver never touched the brakes until basically impact, driving full speed into the sleeper of the parked truck. Hopefully the sleeping driver didn’t feel a thing. IMG_6622.jpeg

Werner driver..Chances are good that he or she was young..possibly little kids at home.

Probably never hear what actually happened to the other driver. who came flying through.

They definitely need to rework that ramp coming in. Plenty of room to put S-curve prior to entering the lot. Don’t slow down you end up in the weeds.

Sad situation and I don’t know if I’ll ever stop there again..just bad vibes now. Especially since the spot where the dash cam truck is parked, that was my spot.

That driver was from Jacksonville and probably been in that rest area countless times. Not like he was some young yahoo that just got his CDL.
Got to be a medical reason. GSP mentioned possible medical and I’m sure that they got intel already from the family of what it may have been. In other words, they know something already otherwise they’d have said nothing.

Since the out of control rig passed in front of a parked truck , it looks like to me it had to have bypassed the scale and been on the exit ramp from 95 to the rest area ?

    Numb Thanks this.

OK I have a question, does anybody know what make the truck was that came into the rest area? Reason why I ask is I thought almost all later models have automatic braking when a situation happens, not that it may have helped much in this situation if he was coming in hot & heavy, but if the shadow of a bridge overpass can make a truck slam on the brakes automatically why wouldn't a stationary object directly in front of it not cause it to brake as well, especially if the truck is moving at a high rate of speed. Isn't that what these safety equipment mandates were for? Preventing any or all accidents?

Yes, he took the exit for the rest area. I personally have never seen that or any other GA scale open at night.

My brother who spent 5 months in ICU for issues with his pancreas, has always said that when it was his time to go he wanted to get hit in the back of the head by an airplane .
Being sick for months was not any way to check out of this life .

this is about as close as you can get to that I reckon .

Depends on how the truck is ordered. It’s not mandated yet but is probably coming. My truck is a 2022 and I ordered it without all the nanny babysitter junk.
