Well I found out the reason that they didn't want to go through Kansas was because of a 3-day wait.
Which if you're keeping track I left Colorado today. Luckily we did at least amend it to leave in Cortez.
Took about all day to get from Denver over to parachute and then about all day to get from there to Cortez. Going down 141 and 145 in Colorado with that was a bit of a special treat. Absolutely beautiful out there. I was very fortunate to have a very good lead , which I absolutely needed in all of those blind curves.
On the plus side at least it's cool this time of year and we got a brief window of good weather. And I can definitely attest that my radiator and coolant lines are in great shape.
And as if spending a metric eternity going up Loveland wasn't fun enough. The even longer eternity going up and down all day on the approach to telluride and down to Dolores was an absolute thrill Ride.
Fortunately this 800 is a good mule. Otherwise it may not have went half as pleasant as it did.
The last time I went through that part of Colorado was years ago hauling lumber out of Montrose. Where I went from there to Yuma a few times through telluride. I had however never been through that section of 141 though. And definitely never imagined taking something like this through either route.
But it is said and done now and I'm about to start cruising through Texas and working my way to Florida. With relative ease by the look of it.
Picture from the cool off stop at the top of lizard Head. And from the scenic area right before the roundabout in telluride.![]()
