Which is exactly what we did, to the tee. Next month I hit 19 years retired and I have collected somewhere in the neighborhood of 1.4 million dollars. I thank God every day for my City retirement. I would love to get another million out of them.... :) But the odds are not that good anymore....

Thankfully, money isn’t an issue in my household. In fact, just out of principal, I took my SS retirement when I hit my full retirement age. For the last 18 months, the third Wednesday of every month, Uncle Sam sees to it that $2995 is deposited in my checking account. Right now, our biggest issue is if we want to sell our home we had built in 2005 and paid off in 2020 and move to a more quiet life style in a retirement friendly state other than Florida. We are looking at central or eastern Tennessee.

My guess is that the freight was refused by the receiver for some reason. In my experience, we're pretty good about delivering freight if there's someone waiting to receive it. But it really gums up the works when a receiver refuses some or all of a load.

So drop it on the yard and we'll deal with it later. And then it gets forgotten about because it's on the other side of the country, and then "later" becomes "never".

Even though I had 25 paid social security years they found it in their hearts to pay for my medicare and send me $700.00 a month.

Home time went too fast….back out yesterday with gatorade to Mountai Top then live loaded at furmano foods in North Umberland and will unload that tomorrow morning at pfg then Jarratt to Groveport then un-needed 34, which I don’t mind since I got a week’s vacation being paid out next week on top of the miles this week out the house, then grab the vegas bh run delivering the 12 but sometimes they will take it early.

Delivered my load of cooler doors to Hill-Phoenix down the road from our terminal Tuesday afternoon, about an hour before everybody in the office knocked off for the day. Had a conversation with my DM about knocking off early myself for the hometime I have coming up this weekend. He said "Sure", which is one of the reasons I like Abilene.

But I had a package due from Amazon on Wednesday, and I'm generally inclined to spend the night in the truck and leave for home in the mornings whenever I go home if I arrive at the yard in the late afternoon or later anyways, so that's exactly what I did. Plan was to keep an eye on my package, grab it as soon as it arrived, and then head home.

For whatever reason, though, it had not yet arrived by 4pm Wednesday afternoon (i.e. yesterday). Which is when I got a call from our outbound load planner. They had a Hill-Phoenix load to Cleveland that they couldn't cover, and I was the only driver in position to make on-time delivery. And would I mind terribly running it?

The honest answer to that question was "Yeah, I would mind" because I'd already mentally checked out, and wasn't planning on checking back in until next week. However, my sense of duty prevailed. I was still on the yard, and was technically still on the clock since my hometime doesn't start until Friday. So I told 'em that I'd run it as long as they ran me straight back to Richmond after delivery (which occurs here in a few hours). Won't be able to legally move this bucket until 11:00am, but I am assured that they will get me back in the most expeditious manner possible, even if they have to deadhead me the whole way.

Now if I could just get some sleep. Been laying in the bunk wide awake for two and a half hours, which does not bode well for my sleep cycle.

Picked the Vegas run this morning and they got trailers in the bobtail parking so had to park at the gate and walk in for paperwork. Was hoping for a roll-up door to make things easier but got swing door. Had to stop and get the top front driver side marker fixed being it wasn’t working. Since I got more than enough time to get to Vegas I stopped at the Loves in Greenville, IL for the day and watched the eclipse.

Back in the saddle after taking a few days off for eclipse viewing with my daughter. Currently parked in a dock in Somerset, NJ, waiting for contractors to offload these coolers from Hill-Phoenix. After that, I drive to Englewood, NJ to pick up some kinda groceries or other, to be delivered tomorrow at PFG in Glen Allen.

Never been to the PFG in Glen Allen. Hope it's more friendly to 53' trailers and sleeper cabs than their Ranco Road location.
