Highly agree, we are quite excited about switching over to them asap. As we know exactly what we're heading into. ♥️️

If anything this is proof we need to drop CPM so we can get rid of the covid drivers. Get back to the <2020 state of the industry..
Speaking purely as someone who would do it for .40 cause I chose trucking instead of was forced to do it..Bud A., bryan21384 and Voodoo Pyg Thank this. -

This is why day cab fleets have waiting lists.. Too many people who can't do the job but also can't get hired in other industries that bum rushed the trucking industry since 2020... They all get broke by the lifestyle and run to the 9-5 stuff..
OTR drivers can do a local drivers job... Not the other way around. The classic lifestyle breaks people who aren't here by choice.. Grown dudes crying at truck stops lmaoLast edited: May 23, 2024

I’ve been driving for almost 10 years now (all of it OTR,with assistance on some dedicated accounts in between) and I still enjoy it. For some people OTR isn’t for everyone. The same thing applies to LTL/Dedicated/Local. The one thing they all have in common is that person has to have the mindset to do the job and find their “niche”.
Also the person needs to do their due diligence before signing on the dotted line with any company. Some of these companies like to dodge questions or won’t give direct answers,so you have to be on your guard.Last edited: May 29, 2024

I've been in the game a while now and have done local and OTR, and for me I much prefer OTR and it ain't even close. This is gonna sound crazy, but I don't really see that great of an upgrade, if at all, driving locally. I always had a 45 min commute. Then running around Nashville is tedious. The shift began at 5 am and sometimes I didn't finish my routes til 7 pm. Hauling beverages is so physical that by the time I got to the weekend, I was exhausted and wasn't in any kind of mood to do anything but sleep. I think local jobs create a harder lifestyle than OTR. My energy and mood is better with OTR. I find city driving more stressful than highway driving. Then there's home life. I'd get home, and be so tired that I couldn't hardly pay attention to what anyone was saying at home. Couldn't enjoy life like I do when I get hometime with an OTR job. I feel like there's more freedom in OTR, and it suits me better. I agree with @mjd4277 that it ain't for everyone. The high majority of people will not have work life balance whether it's OTR or local/regional, simply because trucking jobs are long hours. It's just a matter of which bed you prefer. Also, how much you like your wife, or how many pleasures she has dictates how long you stay out on the road lol
Bud A., HiramKingWilliams, Voodoo Pyg and 3 others Thank this.
