hey now hold on there speedy, this doesn,t mean that its a bad place to be,its just that for me,,,its just that I am dissapointed with the fact that dispatch is so far out of line with the rest of the company,,,for me,,,well I have been driving for a while now and should probably have made the jump straight to owner op, butI felt i needed to get my feet wet and make sure I wasnt leaving anything out of the equation as far as running my own business goes,,and jct seems(ed) like the place to do that b4 taking on all the risk myself,,,I exspected to have much more control than I do over the load planning/dispatch than I do,,,and the fight for hometime, for me (and I am sure dabs will remember my situation and understand why) is a deal breaker for me,,,might not b 4 you,,,,so dont think I am heading out the door just yet,,trks r expensive and i will have to save a little while,,,and if I can iron out the rough spots,, you can bet that I will sign my truck on with these guys.

fr8shkr I have read every page, I'm extremely interested in learning how this turns out for you, I am not saying jump ship, I'm just wondering if they may be tightening up a bit because the thing with Jarbo and now this, I know this is far and few between but I need my home time as well, I wouldn't want to have to fight for it, Now if I was requesting every other weekend off and 2 weeks at Christmas then I could see an issue from them coming up with a different story or having a problem with my "Excessive" home time but I have watched as you have been running like a raped ape for a while now with them. I'll watch it and see how it goes, Like I said the paper for my driving certificate has not even been cut down from the pulp forest in up state washington yet... I'm joking.. But I'm so new that I will just keep an eye on things, Thanks to you and all that are here including the vacationing King Tut of the Thread for making me feel so welcomed to an insiders view of what I still think is a good company to work for, I have put in about 10 apps tonight with perspective companies to see if I can get some "pre hires" before I start school, I know "Pre hires" don't mean squat but they will make me feel good. I will watch from the upper room up here till I see anything I want to comment about. Thanks. TD.

We all have our different situations, and we do need to get home. In a small defense of the company, this happens to be the start of the busiest time of the year, and we also are picking up new customers, so they are trying to prove they can handle the freight. I know this is not an excuse, but business is starting to pick up. We also have some dispatchers that are afraid to let drivers go, so they wont be caught short handed. If you need to get home at a certain time, tell them when you M/T out you will deadhead from there, they'll find you somthig then

Keith nor anyone else can't keep you from getting to a shop. You may not be able to get to the JCT shop when needed due to routing. But that is your truck. You can go to any shop you want. A busted air bag? Hmmm that could be a safety hazzard and/or risk being shut down by DOT. Will end up costing you more in the long run for waiting. Just send in the macros and get to a shop. They cant tell you no... you are the one paying for it lol

Well, the shop has done it again! I was told when I picked up the berry load that I had to stop at the shop since I was going to IN on I-44. MANDATORY inspection of the trailer and the fruit. I figured it was a bunch of garbage, but talked with 3 different people who stated it was on the up and up. SO......No time to get there, and have to stop at the shop.....Well, when I checked in at the shop, they show me this checklist that have to perform. So it really is real! Okay. How long? About 45 minutes is all. One of the items they are supposed to check is the FLOW of air in the chute, and the condition of the chute. When they finished the inspection (I got the trailer back the next MORNING), everything checked out. Problem is, how did they check the chute without breaking the seal and getting in the trailer? Can you say Hmmmmm?????
While I was there they did a J-1 and determined I could not leave due to uneven tire wear on 2 tires. Their alignment is what caused the uneven tire wear, but I need to get them replaced. HOW LONG versus how much.....Well, it should be done around 0230-0300. Hey, I got a 750 mile ride and need to be sleeping to make it.

Night dispatch gets involved. "we have sleep rooms down at the wash rack". Oh- you mean the rooms where people get infested with lice and critters? No thanks. I opt for the hotel route. "Well, leave your bills on the dash and I will find a re-power." You mean the non-existent re-power I asked for for 1 1/2 days and was told there is NOTHING there? No thanks I will keep it. "It better not be late". Why don't you threaten the shop instead of me? The mech doing my J-1 (ROCKIE) was standing horsing around a playing grab ##### with another guy and not doing any real work. And the wonder why no one wants to get anything done at the shop......
I was on time, and actually got unloaded early! Now I get to do a 34 in Shelbyville, IN of all places!!!
My DM....I have NO problem with. Night Dispatch....another story, and the shop. We already know how I feel about them.

Shaker...sorry to hear about your hometime woes. Call me sometime and I will let you know what I did the first time I needed to get home.

Other than the shop I do like this company and will not go anywhere else. I just need to stay away from Royce and the boys....

Hey Allen I guess you are the most senior driver on this forum, how do you handle your dealings with the shop seems to me to be the only real major negative with the company.
