Don't give up, that's the key. I had been applying all over the place and multiple different states for countless different companies and it took 2 months for me to get a single offer, after I accepted that offer two more offers popped off two weeks later. You just never know when it will happen.

The problem out here is these young kids think that trucking a good way of making a living now ,it’s not ! go to school, get into the trades. You’ll be much better. You’ll be set for life.

You want a real good job, get in the trades , be a pipefitter , money is unbelievable , your home every night. I know guy that did it 45 years , pipefitter ,retired foreman , retirement $140,000 a year. The days of good trucking are over. The clowns out there driving the trucks right now ruined the industry.

I know guy his son got into the trades. He runs a backhoe, heavy machine operator, but he has two hats. He drives a truck with a drop deck , and operates the equipment. Now that’s using your head.

    Numb Thanks this.

you also need to be completely drug free to get a CDL.

at 20, I didn't know what to do either. I had just got out of the Navy with a South east Asia tour.

ended up hitch hiking around the country for a few yrs, ( mid 70's), doing odd construction jobs.

Whatever you finally decide on -- I suggest you choose something where your employer(s) need you FAR WORSE than you need them.

This means: choose a career path with a heavy labor shortage.

That way -- if you have a falling out with an employer -- you can land another, similar job fairly soon.

Examples: nursing, trucking (normally -- that market is "down" for now -- but will come back), most of the construction trades (electrician, hvac, plumbing, finish/specialty carpentry, pipefitters).

The coming artificial intelligence wave will not likely affect those jobs, either.
