You drive and back up as if ONE incident and you are going to be set on fire and chopped to pieces. You listen carefully to what dispatchers and customers tell you, and then repeat it back to them and do that or explain, what you can do. Then you ask is that OK for you. Then listen for their answer. If you don't know what to do, you ask the person what they want done.

You are not an equal partner in a big operation. You are the professional in charge of the one piece you control. You need to not promise more than you can achieve, and deliver what you promise. Trip plan for 50 MPH on open interstate if the speed limit is above 55. READ every road sign about the road. Nobody but you can read them and not reading a sign doesn't mean you are off the hook for not obeying it. Be as careful in this job as your teachers, cops, and boss want you to be, not as fast as someone else wants you to be. Go as slow as necessary to not make a mistake.

Good luck, hang in there. My trainer was homeless when he started trucking. Was living out of a storage unit and hotels. 5 years later he bought a house, had it renovated and is now doing very well.. . . Stack that money when u get settled somewhere.

dosgatos, Chi Town Steers and 77fib77 Thank this.
