$0.82 CPM, wow! That is good money. So you must also be W2 then with all those benefits you listed? Sounds like an awesome gig.

What are you pulling (reefer, dry van, something else)?

Also, if you don't mind me asking, how are you finding these regional and local jobs? Or are you putting your resume somewhere and these company's are just contacting you?

Last, what is this new company's policy with winter weather? Do they decide when you run, or is like OTR where you are the one who decides whether to run it or not? Or didn't you ask them about that?

hotrod1653, bzinger and Dale thompson Thank this.

It will be reefer and dry van , I had a resume posted on a website and they called me , I'm not to concerned about bad weather because I watch it pretty close and these days all the non drivers just crash early and shut everything down anyway .

What was the policy at your old home daily local grain hauling job regarding winter weather?

@hotrod1653 you run local LTL in the Upper Midwest (N Dakota I think you said), right? How does LTL handle bad weather up there, are you forced to run until dispatch (or the DOT) says otherwise? Or do you have a choice?

I've always wondered how winter weather gets handled for local drivers up north. And whether or not your bosses give you guys the freedom to make your own judgements as to whether or not to drive, or if you're forced to still come in to work and make an effort to drive before you can tell them you don't feel safe driving anymore (but then will you have enough time to make it back to the terminal in the truck and then to drive back home in your car)?

    Dale thompson Thanks this.

When I was at XPO they made us run it, regardless of the weather. Only way we didn’t go is if the roads were closed. At CCFS we make the call of go or no go.

Our safety department doesn’t want us getting hurt or hurting someone else due to weather. They also don’t want our equipment getting wrecked.

    hopefully that answers your question.

they definitely are…. Best choice I’ve made in a LONG time was leaving XPO and going to work there.

Did they really fire him or give him a chance to go get a good job?
If he would’ve taken a set of pups out in that blizzard and tied them in a knot, they would’ve fired him for that, plus he would have an accident on his record.
I’d say it was a win win for him!!!
