I finished my orientation at SNI. Was just walking back into the hotel when I got a call that a truck is ready for me.
They took me thru the experienced version of orientation, and no one made it thru except me. It was a little nerve racking being by myself after the others got kicked out. But I’m done now and just got off the phone with my new team lead.
She was very nice and extremely accommodating. Not that I asked for too much, I just haven’t been home for thanksgiving in so long. And I thought I was supposed to be done with orientation on Wednesday, but we worked thru the weekend. I thought if I finished Wednesday, of course I would have the next day, thanksgiving, off. But that was just a slight miscommunication from my recruiter. Plus since the hotel was booked thru Wednesday and me assuming that I’d be at orientation until Wednesday. But instead I’m done already and on my way in a few minutes to pre trip my truck.
My new team lead asked me to drive to the OC tonight. But I’m not going tonight because I have the hotel room already and the OC is less than an hour from SNi, I don’t meet her until 8 tomorrow morning, and she suggested it’s fine if I stayin the hotel tonight and drive there in the morning.
Tomorrow I’m going out for a shorter run with someone already on the account. Once I’m done tomorrow I’m off until Monday, which is really nice.
Overall orientation wasn’t too bad. I’m really glad they let me into the experienced group. It also sounded like I’ll be avoiding going out with a TE for a few weeks, just the first day. But she also said there’s a few more things they need to check me for before I get let loose.

I did tanker with Schneider.., been a while back, key is a good dbl, used to they had a 90 day dbl… then you got permanent one.. good one will keep you busy. Bad one will break you..
77fib77 and Chi Town Steers Thank this. -
Hey Chitown, that's great to hear you earned your spot in the experienced group , well done. Did Schneider do hair follicle ?
How far back they request employment history ? And if you could do it all over again, could you have joined them as your first job rather than WE ?
Thanks for your time77fib77 and Chi Town Steers Thank this. -
Schneider drug test was hair follicle and urine. They used my facial hair which was perfect because my beard was a little uneven and he actually shaped it nicely. I believe they asked for my previous 3 years for employment, but I don’t remember for sure. It could have been previous 10 years.
If I could do it all over I would still have gone thru the process. It was a learning experience and I appreciated the chance to get a job. At the end of the day it just wasn’t the best situation for me. I definitely don’t want to go back there. What I am most happy about after having gone thru it is the chance to go somewhere and learn as an inexperienced driver, before coming to a company where I do plan to stay for some time. Helped work out some jitters, and give me a better idea of what I do and don’t like about certain jobs. I wouldn’t change it, but I wouldn’t do it again either.77fib77, sukhumvit, Albertaflatbed and 1 other person Thank this. -
