What happens when broker who won the bid doesn't get the load covered?

I assume that's where the carrier wins in most cases as it will bid for lower rate for the broker.

Well, one time I got the call back at my rate. That’s the once in the past 5 years that I recollect.
Overall, them cooly rates get it moved unfortunately. Just where things are the past couple years.

The faster people understand that brokers don’t set the rates the better off everyone will be. Loads move because people are willing to haul them for the rate they agreed to. And if the loads don’t move the rate will come up until they do. Also, too many trucks trying to haul too few loads isn’t a broker issue either.

It depends on the broker, shipper and if there is an actual contract. Generally one of three things depending on the dynamics.
1.) the broker gives it back and says I can’t move it. This generally results in a lost customer.
2.) the broker contacts the customer with an actual truck and rate in hand and asks what the customer wants to do.
3.) the broker takes a loss and gets the load covered. This is why you can find one off loads where a broker makes 60% but they have a yearly avg of 12% profit. These crazy high margins do happen, but so does a net loss.
