    Beans,

I wondered if you got on at Werner. My husband got on with them with having no exp. He had gone to a driving school. A friend of his from driving school was hired also with only 3 months exp.

like i said, werner is a s***bag company. i do not drive for them anymore. i got my years exp and i went to a better company willing to pay me what im worth. i had an accident with them that was not my fault mind you and they suspended me for it, then a year later the passenger of the car that was involved sued me and werner. despite the fact that the girl passenger had all the stuff she said was wrong with her after the accident were already pre-existing conditions, werner settled and hung me out to dry. i was unable to get a job for a good year because of that. the lawyers that defended me agreed whole-heartedly that it was not my fault and nothing could have been done. the two girls had just left the cotton-eyed joe's bar in knoxville at about 9pm that night and they were probably drinking. that wasn't even considered though. the cops saw a semi in an accident and automatically assumed i did it. i was issued a citation for improper lane change, which was thrown out of court due to improper investigation on the part of the officer. all these facts that were presented were thrown to the wayside when werner settled with them. thus, like i said, screwed my driving record. that was in 2005, and i have had to work for a really shady company just to get my safety record back right. so, in closing, if anyone, i mean ANYONE, wants to work for werner, work for them at your own risk. because when the rubber meets the road, they royally screwed me. if i was a stupid man and didn't care what happened to me or my family, i would have drove to omaha, dragged that jim cokendorfer safety guy out and beat the brakes off him.lol. (cokendorfer, what a name! haha, hell, no wonder he was a dick to me, he probably got rode so hard about that stupid name that he ended up a bitter old fart mad at the world.)

i hope my point is clear and to the letter, because contrary to the replies to my previous post about werner, i am by far not a crybaby truck driver. i just got done wrong, but that's life right?? lol. im in a better spot now though, thank the lord.

    im out

It may not seem pertinent at first, but I happened to notice that this guy joined the forums in Dec of 07. Had been driving for Werner.... To give a counterpoint to his "positive" opinion of Werner, I'd like to add my experience.....

October of 2007, I learned that my girlfriend was pregnant... Woohoo! On the road with Werner, I was livin good..
November of 2007 my girlfriend LOST the baby... Letting my dispatcher .. Call him Bizz Lightyear.. know, I also asked him for some down time, and patience as my ONLY communication with home was VOIP internet. (hooray, Werner paid so little I could'nt afford a phone)
Then December 2007: Finally, making it to the Omaha terminal I was redtagged, so unable to continue home to see my girl.... Going IN to talk in person, I sat down and explained EVERYTHING.. As well as adding that she'd gone missing possibly suicidal... And could I PLEASE get a load to her town....(Texas A/M don't like guys in the girl dorms, so a bus ticket.. Nope, won't work) So I wait.. And wait.... and wait... They WON'T bump me up in the repair line... I wait....
Finally I decide to go to the mall and shop around for engagement rings... and saw 2 people shot to death... And the next day? Werner fires me for low productivity.
    ----------------------

I've known another driver on this forum with some pretty similar experiences with these people, so I KNOW I'm not alone. I sh---t you not folks! This company is inhuman when it comes to their drivers. Maybe some have a different experience. I can't argue with that, but consider.... Do you want to gamble that you'll be lucky? What if a family member dies? A S/O has her BABY die... They don't CARE.

If you love what you do and is happy where at, more power to you. Keep ontruck and forget all the bs. Make money and make it work for you, we all have to start somewhere. There are problems on every job, some problems may even be shared by most companies, but what really matters is surving the trials and tribulations, and let stability (time) with a company be your weapon. Companies tends to take care them that stick around and be fruitful for both them and the company. Try investing your money in things that will allow it to grow and not into the over priced items in truck stops. Love what you do and you will do it longer.

First i want to say i empathise with your misfortune, But are you telling me that not one family member (especially due to you losing a child?) would not buy you a bus ticket Home? Or are you another guy that blames all of life's decisions that YOU'VE MADE on everyone else's injustice in your life?
Did you piss everyone off to the point that no one is there when you need help? Man if it were important to me and the Company did not understand OR believe me, My a$# would be goin home even if it ment walking bud!

Family should and Always comes first, and if you say my family sucks, well then maybe the responsibilty falls on you to start changing the family situation for the better.:yes2557: Life IS WHAT YOU ALLOW IT TO BE:yes2557:

Look your missing the point i was trying to make, The Company is the Company, and their going to do business their way regardless of who it is. Their loyalty (any trucking Co.) is to their bottom line to survive. The driver should be operating on the same level, looking out for HIS/HER bottom line and being loyal to what is important to themselves. Both should be operating at a level of professionalism that would be expected by each other. Your issues in your life, struggles, debt, absience from home, Past legal issues, Family members, are not nor ever will be the concerns of big business. Having said that you need to ensure your survival of family and everything that you feel important enough by doing what ever you will have to in order to get the job done(providing). Sometimes because of all the baggage we bring into this job make it almost imposible to survive ie. bills we've created before we started driving or family issues that were never resolved before taking off. The company just wants the load on time and delivered, their not interested in anything else, nor should they be. So to say one Company or another does'nt care for their drivers, well your right, they don't have to. If they started whining to drivers about Money problems or operating issues with clients what are you gonna say, "I don't care, it's not my problem, give me my money"!, you see? Both sides are right, no ones to blame and both sides need to figure out the solutions to their own problems respectively.

It's no ones Fault..........it just is.
