I enjoyed his stories as well . To me he just seemed like a old trucker that wanted to hang around and tell old trucker tales.. they were always great entertainment . And the fact that he is still talked about years after he left, makes him a legend

I have a feeling, one way or another that this will be my last hometime as an SPD driver. By the time I get home I will have a decision on which direction I am headed and a departure plan in place. Apparently they don't need guys like me anymore, they need drivers who like to babysit trucks and run part time so I'll take my 4 million mile ### to a company that can utilize me better. If I weren't already working here, and was looking for a new company, I wouldn't even look twice at this company. It's hard to believe a company can go from a fun place to work to such a nightmare job in such a short period of time. But that's seems to be what happens when you involve Wylie.Last edited: Feb 5, 2025

SSB,
Before you head back to Shaffer, please read your post on page 718 of the chilling at Shaffer thread. I understand about the medical insurance for your wife. That's obviously an important item. There has to be something better for you other than OTR unless that's your preference. I have never worked OTR and wouldn't want to because that's my preference. I believe in being paid for all of my hours worked and I liked being home every day. While this is a great website, especially for new driver's and provides some very entertaining reading, I don't think that you are going to find your next company here. Just my opinion. Again, there has to be something better out there for you. I truly wish you luck in finding that company. It's out there, you just don't know it yet. I had a good job before I found the company that I recently retired from. I had to wait almost a year to be hired because no one left until they retired. I will be looking forward to following your next adventure.hope not dumb twucker, D.Tibbitt, navypoppop and 3 others Thank this. -
I did have another member point me towards a company I had never heard of before. I checked them out on their webpage and even asked them a few questions via their 'contact us' tab. That was earlier this week, and I haven't heard back from them. The reason I thought about Shaffer again is simply because I can go from application to orientation in a matter of days if I need to. Plus I know their system, I know their policies and expectations, and I know what I liked and disliked about them. Sort of a "better the devil you know" scenario than some unfamiliar company.hope not dumb twucker, motocross25 and Knucklehead Thank this.
